Re: Front wheel bearings

I agree with Mr. Harding's assessment that a given part number is a given dimension as long as we are talking the same manufacturer. They would be much more expensive if they were hand matched one at a time. That said, if you actually run it, I would expect wear of the part to cause a new bearing an...

Re: New FV wannabe looking to crew

Who started a rumor that NWR wouldn't be racing next year. That is 100% false! I do recommend the IRDC novice program though. Great way to get familiar with racing, flags, etc. They do a great job. I came up through that program as well. You could also swing by my place and help me put Tiago's car b...

Re: New FV wannabe looking to crew

By the way, if you haven't already, call Jim at SR Racing and buy his "Getting Started in Formula Vee" book. - 866-521-4007 And YES, your assumption is correct, we don't seem to have any FST's in the Pacific Northwest. Once you race a few regionals and get a National License, you can come ...

Re: New FV wannabe looking to crew

The mission race coming up is an annual gathering. Should be 25 modern FV's there. Probably the biggest gathering of modern FV's outside of the runoffs, save the special events like birthday party. Shoot me a note. Happy to help you get started. That offer is regardless of if you are interested in m...

Re: New FV wannabe looking to crew

Jim,

I'm in the Redmond, WA area. If you are interested in learning more about FV, I'm happy to talk. Do you have a car yet?

You should come up to the Mission, B.C. race in a couple weeks. You can meet a lot of FV guys there.

Re: Just don't get it!

I'm not blasting Steve Davis. He is attempting to do something about the problem. I offered to run and financially support a control tire test program. I recently offered a $500 prize to SCCA FV racers who could beat our top Canadian racers on a proper tire. Once again, Smazzy shifts the thread fro...

Re: Just don't get it!

Tiago, You hit the nail on the head. Greg just doesn't seem to get it. I am for disk brakes, and supported the spec tire idea. I even wrote the last letter. I have also written letters trying to get the weight increased. All I'm asking for is Greg to put his money (or time in this case) where his mo...

Re: Just don't get it!

The process actually works very well. It is the same process all classes follow. FF allowing Honda power started with a letter. Whining and complaining, calling names and making wild accusatory statements on the internet??? That works about as well as it has for the last couple years on this board.....

Re: Just don't get it!

Again, submit a letter to the CRB asking for that change. Talking about it on the board does nothing. The only way we can make a change is by following the process. The SCCA is not reading this board looking for ideas.

Re: Just don't get it!

Not surprisingly, the FV racers are withdrawing their entries. My interests as a FV enthusiast and SCCA member are in direct conflict. FV needs to fix itself. SCCA needs to fix itself. FV cannot wait for SCCA to fix it as SCCA has its own restructuring to worry about. FV racers need to select a con...

Re: Just don't get it!

Oh, and there is another reason to do nothing. We cannot reduce tire costs by 50, 60, 70, 80, 90%, because that might involve making the control tire a radial or DOT tire, and that would require another rule change. Greg, That could certainly be changed with a rule change. Here is the site to submi...

Re: Just don't get it!

In case you have not read my prior posts, I'll reiterate the basic theme here: SCCA does not need to be left alone, and there are certainly issues to be addressed. Things like Spec Tires for example, which the membership indicated they desired. If someone submits a letter, that reopens the discussio...

Re: Just don't get it!

You are so wrong. Playing into the SCCA system just ensures nothing ever gets accomplished. When a group of people agree on a philosophy, develop a good plan, organize a group of people to support it, and present it in a developed proposal, then there is a chance that something may get done. That i...

Re: Just don't get it!

I made a suggestion. Write a letter. Write several. One for each issue you want addressed. If you are not going to write a letter, nothing will get done. YOU have that power. Not exercising it means you are part of the problem. In case you have not guessed: Posting on the message boards and forums d...

Re: Just don't get it!

Actually, you are incorrect in your assumption. All it takes is 1 letter. Then it will typically get kicked to the FSRC, who typically asked the FV Adhoc Comm for our opinion. Then it goes out for member input. That is when you need a well organized campaign. 50 letters at the same time requesting t...

Okay everyone, now is your chance. Get off this website, go to http://www.scca.com. Write a letter telling the club what you want. There is no better time than right now!

Stop going round and round in circles and write a letter asking for change.

Nobody ever came to us (the committee) and asked for clarification on our survey results. A much larger chunk of national competitors (54) than you will ever get to write letters responded to the survey. To put that in perspective, 53% of ALL drivers to enter a national in 2011 responded to the surv...

Missed the finish on both of these, but I can tell you it was side by side 4 wide practically at the finish.

6 car battle for the lead, then a 5 car battle until a couple laps to go. Finished 4 wide.
