Re: Showcase nationals

Since we race a little more than the rest of the world, a doorslammer friend of mine suggested a "premier" class or group be "showcased" each month. Given 2-5 extra laps in the feature race and a little nicer trophies. It sounded like a nice thing, no extra practice/qualifying ti...

Re: My letter about the FV spec intake

Another voice from CFR. I agree with John. I am a relative newcomer to FV, run regionals, but, do have national license. The expense of a "new" manifold would make me decide which race weekend I wanted to give up to purchase the spec manifold. In my opinion, there are probably a lot of us ...

Re: Wnter Racing Blues

Just finished SARRC race at Sebring. 75 degrees, Carolina blue skies, very light breeze (NO snow). I came in 6th out of 6, but, I saw a flag I didn't recognize. Little black and white squares and the guy waving it looked like he was swatting flies. Shawn goes out this afternoon. I thanked my wife fo...

difficulty deleting PM's

Pardon my computer illiteracy. I still can't get over not using whiteout on the screen. Could someone guide me through deleting old PM's from my mailbox.

Thanks

This is sorta off topic. Are you going to Savannah driver school? Linda and I can volunteer to work a corner and perhaps lend a hand between sessions if you need it.

Re: National Dates

It is 30 degrees this morning and not a cloud in the Carolina blue skies. Going up to a high of 47 with no chance of rain. I guess I chose the wrong day to run, but, I gotta admit it was fun. CFRSCCAdotORG for our schedule. Come on down to Florida for some racing at Sebring and Daytona. 11 vees were...

Re: National Dates

34 degrees and the rain was fun! Saturday ended up being a flagfest. They threw every flag except red, I even saw one with little black and white squares, which I had not seen in a while. Now I know what it is like to race out of the Sunshine State .

Re: National Dates

Come on down to Floriduh for the quad national January 1-10 at Homestead and Sebring (long course). I can't guarantee perfect weather, but, there probably won't be any snow to plow and the racing will be good. You can always go to the Keys if you break at Homestead and take an airboat ride outside o...

Turkey Trot is the weekend after Thanksgiving. Long course, Sebring, first race for "next" year. January is trying the Quad national Jan 1,2,3 ,8,9,10. Come on down to FL/CFR for some racing and maybe a cruise in between?

Re: need transaxle-mounted battery box

Don't know what the vintage rules are, but, I kinda like where the battery is in the Vista. It is right under my thighs/knees. Gel type, horizontal position with insulators over terminals. The Zink had a rear mounted battery and was convenient for jump starting, but, the SRF made the box go away (al...

rocker arm retaining clip

Just completed 2 laps of a 30 minute race at Sebring. The car became a moving advertisement for Rice Cripies snap, crackle, pop. Pulled one of the valve covers and dicovered the end retaining clip on the rocker arms was broken and off the assembly. One of the rocker arms moved off the exaust valve a...

Re: Oil Cooler question

We won't go into details but, be careful with routing any remote oil lines. Make sure the hoses are not pinched or rubbing against anything. And, be really careful about which way the oil flows. We won't say who but, someone swapped oils lines on a remote oil filter/cooler and starved the engine of ...

Re: Drivers Schools

I can speak highly of the CFR SCCA schools. Even though I broke (rear brake drum, carry a spare) during July, I finished at Savanna in February. Started in April at Daytona, attempted Sebring in July and completed school in Savannah. My son started in Feb in Savannah and completed in July at Sebring...

Re: Citation oil cooler

Just be careful with the oil lines to the remote filter. "Somebody" swapped ours and we starved the engine of oil. Pressure was shown on gauge because of where we were reading it. Engine ran fine until the rod bearings started to wear (1 weekend @ Sebring ). We replaced the bearings and we...

We check it both ways, running and not. There are marks on the dipstick for both. We were running 2:40's at Daytona. Made it through both qualifying and 13 lap race Sunday (we only did 11, @#$% FM's are fast and we are slow). Temp held at 220F. Two months off now. It is too hot to race.

Thanks, that should help with the jitters tonight. The first thing I did was to check the oil level, up to top line and oil looked good. oil pressure ???

Daytona. Warm weather. Fast track. 1st session out today. Started with 40 psi of oil pressure @ 1000 rpm. On tri-oval guage read 0 psi. Turning 5500+ rpm. pulled into tech to get weighed (1043 lbs). Oil pressure was "normal" 20+ psi @ idle. Looked at oil temp. read 240 degrees after about ...
