Too quiet too long on the Solo Forum....
So, here's a couple videos from 12-6! http://blip.tv/file/1548066 Same course, in car video: http://blip.tv/file/1547224/ Nice long course at Brooksville Airport. There was a Lotus 61J running also. A VERY fast machine! I was having some braking issues which ended up being some corrosion in the mast...

Test and Tune in Brooksville. And a cheapo Weber Fix!!
We went to a Test and Tune in Brooksville today. It was put on by the Central Florida SCCA. I had some serious engine stumbling going on... Wasted a couple runs. I gave up trying to tune the Weber. Out of desperation, I shot a bunch of Carb Cleaner down the carb. throat.... Shazam! Cleared the choke...

That's another option. Any thoughts about performance gains going from a 40 to a 44?MBillings wrote:I'm interested in buying a 44 IDF Weber carburetor. Does anyone have one for sale?

I am looking forward to seeing you run the new and improved version at the next Autocross. Especially with the dual carb set up!

Yes it is! He ended up having to do a fair bit of sorting out after he picked it up. It should be rock solid now.

Re: Dual Carbs on a 1600 (again)
A local guy that has recently picked up a Solo Vee (Lynx) just had his converted to dual Weber 40 carbs. He had the conversion done at the same time as an engine 'freshen.' The car is not put back together yet, but it should be soon. I guess that will be the real test. I was looking at my rear frame...

Sebring AutoX last weekend & upcoming State championships
The Central Florida SCCA held an autocross last weekend in Sebring. Great time and a fast course. It was a lot of fun to head over to the infield and watch the road races taking place. The Fl. State AutoX Championships will take place at Sebring in November. http://www.martinsportscarclub...ship1 Ho...

Dual Carbs on a 1600 (again)
I am seriously thinking about taking the plunge. I still have yet to hear about anyone who has done it and their thoughts about the increase in power. I can't do the whole 1915 upgrade right now, but sure would like some more power coming out of corners. Anyone have any thoughts about the conversion...

Tried an AIPTEK camera today
I picked up a cheap AIPTEK video camera at Walmart. The price was right, $99.99. The video quality was not too bad for what it is. I mounted it on my roll bar on my Solo Vee. There is quite a bit of vibration, but the camera did fair to OK. Not close to the quality of some of those high dollar units...

Re: Autocross last Sunday in Brooksville
I am adding another video in defense of the course. It has been pointed out to me that the video shot from the side really makes it look like a drag strip up and back. The course design shows much better in the shot taken from the end. OK...... and maybe the other reason is because I like posting pi...

That's great stuff. My son has just started autoXing in his Mazda 3. He is chomping at the bit to try the Solo Vee. I think it's time! Those young reflexes should have him beating my time in short order

Autocross last Sunday in Brooksville
The local BMW club held an autocross last Sunday at the Hernando Airport. Approx. 50 cars. A fast course that allowed a total of nine runs. The runs were pretty quick. I just can't get enough of this stuff! Here's a video of the runs. I was the only FM there. (edited to remove FTD comment. Mis...

Re: Central Florida Region SCCA event
Thanks. You are right, it has been a learning process for me. Lots of torque in these little engines. No need to be winding it out all the way! Nothing like 'seat time' to figure things out.... little by little.

Central Florida Region SCCA event
The CFR SCCA put on a great event today. A long course with plenty of opportunity to be well into third! Finally, another Solo Vee in attendance. Carl showed up with a Lynx! Some of you may recognize it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v640/snookwheel/P1010894.jpg A great time and a FTD. Here's a ...

Re: Weekend SCCA event
Thanks. There are some great deals on tow vehicles. We just bought a 5.7 ltr Tundra. The dealers are very willing to negotiate! 19.5 mpg on the highway. I was amazed. However, hook up the trailer and it drops to 10 mpg at 60mph on straight and level Florida roads. We use an equalizer hitch and I hav...
