Re: Mouth guard
I use a custom molded mouth guard made by my dentist which goes on my upper plate. I find it has several advantages. 1) It is actually a little easier to breath with it in, 2) Helment strap is more comfortable. 3) definitely helps the jaw rattle when driving off the surface of the track - which I tr...

Re: Let's name my car
I am working on it . We think Art posted to the waterford hills bulletin board last summer in advance of the 50th aniversary race. I sent him a message with a link to this discussion. Have not heard back.

Re: rear shock options
Yes, please PM me with a price for the shocks. I may have some Bilstein monotube shocks of correct length for trade or would be willing to purchase outright.
Bilsteins would probably need revalving but could be quite good in that application.

Re: rear shock options
If these are the koni's with the 80T-1869 part number I would be interested in purchasing them. The number is stamped on the side of the shock but is often difficult to read with the springs on.

Re: Low turnouts - Vintage FV influence
Bill, I beg to differ on Vintage Formula Vee stealing entries. Yes there may be 50-60 vintage formula vees running throughout the country - but many of them do not meet modern SCCA requirments for front roll hoops, side intrusion, front impact attenuation and other factors. Many had no engines and h...

Re: Low turnouts
Entries are not down in VSCDA in the Michigan / IL area. Our vintage series is growing at about 2 cars per year. Fields are approaching 30 cars per race with the Grattan August race being our largest event. We have a best 3 of 5 race weekend point series and attract cars from as far away as Florida ...

Re: history lesson
Depends on how big the beam is and the vertical stiffness. If it is a tall section which would be more resistant to bending then the spring rate would be sufficiently high in comparison to suspension spring rate. Same arguement applied to the late 70's / early 80's rocker arm suspension on F1 down t...

Re: history lesson
While the Ringwraith was designed as a zero rear roll resistance car, Jeff Carlin added a second set of dampers in the rear to control some oscillations in the rear suspension - as I was told by Mike Jackson. The Ringwraith used a pivoting beam over the transaxle for attachment of the rear springs a...

Re: New to Vintage Racing at Gingerman 5/3-5/4
You can talk to just about any of the VSCDA Formula Vee drivers and they will do all they can to help at the event. Given that is only a two day event we will be pretty busy between sessions - as each session will be pretty important - but we will try to help as much as possible.

Re: New to Vintage Racing at Gingerman 5/3-5/4
Don, There will be plenty of Fv at Gingerman and plenty of people to help. Even with prior racing experience it would still be worthwhile to enter the VSCDA driver's school on Friday May 2nd. There is a tremondous amount of track time and good coaching available. I took the school again in 2006 afte...

Hoosier
Actually I think most people when running the Hoosiers will run the smaller tire all around. If you think about it the Hoosiers may be a good tire for road america. There are plenty of long straights so the tires will never get up to a very high temperature so the compound difference may not be much...
