Greg, I might be interested in the tranny without axles. What is the condition? Is it a long box with 26th third?

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
Barring any unseen last minute issues I will be at the meeting. I like many have no real response until I hear what the issues are that everyone (know idea how many that might be) is worried about. A lot of the big buck items in racing are not really associated with the car but are travel, entries e...

Re: New Goodyears
Brian, I will be on the Goodyears at the runoffs. Like Steven said the tire stays pretty flat and for me with start pressures of 16 & 18 and they end up at 20 & 21. They are consistent for the whole run and do seem to wear better than the old tires. The new tire is much narrower than the Hoo...

Re: New Goodyears
Brian, I don't know what you mean by crowning and I have two races on the one set and they still seem to have some good life in them. Will they last as long as the Hoosier's, I don't know about that. The set of Hoosiers I had to buy in the begining of the season have two qualifying and two races and...

Re: Thunderbolt Raceway, NJMP
After everyone using a long box at the national becuase Eugine said that we would need one after last years regional I think that a short box will work and could be faster. I guess we will have to wait until next year's national unless someone uses one at one of the regionals. Rick Shields did ask m...

Re: New Goodyears
Yes they have been avalable for maybe two months. At the new track in New Jersey was the first time I really got to use them (I didn't make it past turn one at Summit) I qualified 2nd and won after Roger broke. We did run together and I think they are as good as the Hoosier tire and I did get the ne...

Re: Any Heavy Equipment Operators out there?
Chris, I went thorough a union apprenticeship in the early 70's that took 4 years. The unions will provide the best training espicially on the safety side of the job. Depending on the local union and there program you might not become an experienced operator thorough the apprenticeship but will gain...

Re: NE DIV Summit Point National
I called and talked to Chris Lore the 500 driver last night to see how he was doing. He has a fractured vetibra and is not felling to good. He has no nerve damage which is good and he needs to find an orthopedic specialist to go see about possible surgery to repair the damage. He did apoligize a few...

Re: Stripped lug in drum
Heilacoils are fine and I used them on front drums for many years until the drum was to worn. The only problem is they will start to back out of the hole and you will need to replace them. I started to use locktight to stop them from moving. Check you torque wrench since it might be off and that is ...

Re: Need more input on the FV manifold rules
Bruce Livermore, I checked my best manifold last night and the 1.050 measurement is not an issue since it is 1.030. But the measurement for the flange that was in the other post is that going to be in any new rules? My manifold on the one side I measured was 2.987 which is very close to the limit of...

Re: Why is the Sky Blue?
Fortunatly here on the east the only time we are on track with the SRF is test days. But their claim they can't see us is pure BS since when you come up from behind them you can see their face in their mirror which means they can see you, they just choose not to or don't look in their mirrors. They ...

Re: Cutting patterns in metal
Thanks to Bob for posting these pictures but I wanted to show everyone what the throttless shear I have looks like. It is from Woodward Fab. in Michigan and I paid $105 as a show special for it. It is OK but I would rather use my shear at my brothers since the throttles shear is hard to keep it cutt...

OK guy's and gal's, this is a good chance to get togehter on a topic we all should agree upon. Re: Cutting patterns in metal
A plasma cutter is really nice, I do have one, but it is very acurrate and will not make real straight ot smooth cuts unless you are following a straight line or pattern. Ofcourse when the tip starts to wear it will cut funny until it won't work anymore. I have patterns for some of the things but th...

Re: December Racecar Engineering Magazine and Vees
I could be wrong on this but I think the homo process is geared towards making sure the CHASSIS is build safely. I haven't done the homo process since the 80's but I never r- homo'ed my car when I made changes to the bodywork. As long as you met the rules for bodywork how you do the bodywork is up t...

Re: December Racecar Engineering Magazine and Vees
I disagree with that Brian. The side pods along with the nose on the Citation are the shape of a wing or a streamline if you chose to call it that. They have been using that design for many years and it is legal or never challenged. Many people including me have used stremlining flairings on everyth...

Re: December Racecar Engineering Magazine and Vees
The article did state the fairings caused more drag than none. But like others mentioned properly built ones should reduce the drag. Remember that if the flairings are attached to the bodywork then they are considered bodywork not wings.

It sure would be a good idea to be able to adjust the timing without having to tear the engine apart. Weither it is practical or not it would save alot of expense.

I have been using the G-Force system for the last two years and am very happy with it. I do not like the fact that the hans is so expensive since it has been on the market for so long that it shouldn't be but half the price. The problem with the G-Force is they want you to use their helmit but I was...

Re: Lewis Hamilton Penalty
It just goes to show that the FIA will stop at nothing to give the championship to Ferarri. Kimi actually hit Lewis and forced him over the chicane which should be acceptable under those circumstances but Lewis actually left him back by. So the lame excuse that Lewis had an advantage by drafting Kim...
