FV Intake Manifold Measurements 2018

Intake manifolds haven't been mentioned here since 2016 I think, so I'm starting a new thread. This is from the Preliminary October Fasttrack Minutes and it addresses the "Proper" methods to measure the manifold particulars and also cleans up some other minor stuff. I don't see any real CH...

Re: 1968 FV Race Galveston TX

Pretty nifty 'catch' by the photographer considering the equipment available at the time. I believe there was a local track in Galveston back then .. or maybe it was just close by.
Do you have the actual newspaper from back then, or did the paper run a reprint recently?

Re: 1966 Autodynamics FB

Dave, I'd guess you've already seen this article... but thought I'd post it anyway, just in case... http://www.oldracingcars.com/fb/1966/southwestdiv/ . I'd say your first effort would be to determine exactly what engine is in the chassis. If it's a 356 2 liter, you have a good shot that what you ha...

Barry,
I finally got an answer from Greg. He's been working outside on a big project and not getting to his computer very often.

Thanks, Barry and Sherman for your donations. Although there has been less activity here since the forum got hacked and fell almost dead for 2 years (it took Dietmar and I some 2 MONTHS of work to get all that cleared up and set up better protection from spammers), there is still a wealth of informa...

Re: Disc brakes

I got this back from Rick Harris - Tech Manager at SCCA... The letter system shows that letter #22456 went out in the October Fastrack as a RECOMMEND item. The letter system also shows it was approved at the November BoD meeting. It looks like the letter was mistakenly assigned as approved in the le...

Re: Disc brakes

It seems that this new rule (see post #1 by BLS), has been PASSED.. without any of us being aware of it. FWIW, I have just submitted the following message to the CRB via the CRBSCCA.com website (Tracking Number: #23775). I never saw anything about it being PASSED ... and I LOOKED! ------------------...

Jeremy. There is no 'bad' way to make a donation :P . Donations to Paypal; Steve@WedgeRacing.com are just fine. We'll apply the dollars where they need to go to cover the expenses that support FV racing on all of the FV sites I manage... which is several. FormulaVee.org (THIS forum) as well as Formu...

Re: Brake thought for the month.

...I was using one of those bleeder devices with the check valve.... I have tried those 'auto-bleeders' as well and also found that they leaked air back into the system. Follow the process and DOUBLE CHECK using CLEAR bleed tubing. You won't regret it. Also, make sure to apply a small amount of hi-...

Re: Brake thought for the month.

The rears are 'normally' mounted at the top. The fronts are not. I have not had any problems bleeding the fronts at the 3 and 9 positions. If done right, it is not an issue. Bleed the brakes by installing a bleed tube that is immersed in brake fluid (standard 'bleeding' container - if you make your ...

Great, Chris. I suggest you email Deanna Flanigan at SCCA and make your offer to her. Include your 'radio resume' . Let us know what she has to say. Of course, if you happen to know Heyward Wagner, he would be a good contact as well.

Re: 2017 Runoffs

Sounds like a great idea, Chris. Maybe you could start practicing by watching the SCCA video of the race (when it becomes available) and come up with what you might say .. or how to STOP Dorsey from talking and let you do it instead . He did say that he drove one ONCE - I didn't know that befor...

.... Would that be the only time the announcers got something correct? :) With them having to "think on their feet", I guess we can give them SOME credit for other responses. Just because they missed a couple, we shouldn't condemn the whole show  . I've sat in front of the microp...

Re: 2017 Runoffs

Yes ... great race. A shame there was no video of the last lap 'confrontation' between Brian and Rick. Brian referenced it slightly in his post race interview. The video showed Rick stuck in the gravel after the race. I assume it happened somewhere in the esses, but the video was focused on watching...

Re: 2017 Runoffs

Curious to know what gearbox is the preferred one. I'm guessing 26short, but not sure whether there might be a place between turns where one might run out of revs. Looking at the trap speeds, seems shortbox for sure?

FWIW, I posted some pictures of the conversion kit I installed and tested back in '06. It was a FRONT ONLY kit that cost ~$240 delivered to my door. I don't recall the weights, but it wasn't far off of a wash. It DID require different wheels though. The newer 4 hole, 5.5 x 15" VW wheels from th...

Re: Disc brakes

WOW... things are happening ... and without ANY member input too.... at least so far. I wonder which specific parts the FVC had in mind when they wrote the rule? A caliper at 1.65 lbs seems somewhat unlikely .. even if it was aluminum. Since this is preliminary minutes, maybe the intent was to ask f...
