Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
Last year the average age of a SCCA member was 49. I would suspect that this year it is 50. I know of two national level FV's that are currently up for sale. Both ran in the top 10 at the runoffs and both are selling for less than $6,000.00 ea. I know that the economy is down but I don't think the m...

Re: Race Gas vrs Av. Gas
Bob is a newbie/regional racer (3 or 4 FV races to date) First of all, How am I suppose to know Bob is a new/regional racer ??? is there any appreciable difference in performance Sorry, but the answer is yes. There are guys spending $1500.00 for manifolds that have an "appreciable difference&q...

Re: Monster Manifolds?
Just a little clarification on my previous post regarding my manifold. The local engine builder that recently modified my manifold for $200.00 had already done some work to this manifold for the previous owner of my car. So, the amount of time and effort that he recently charged me for does not nece...

Re: Monster Manifolds?
Hey.............. it's just part of the economic stimulus package. FYI, I had my manifold modified by a local engine builder that you all know for $200.00 and it out performed the above mentioned "Monster Manifold" I tested them back to back on the dyno. The Monster Manifolds are gre...

Re: Aim Mychron3 Dash Data Logger
I would also recommend the AIM products. I started with the AIM system in karting and have continued to use it in my FV and FST. In my mind the real advantages are customer support and the popularity of the product. File sharing can be a great asset. I continually share my data with my engine builde...

Does anyone know the approx coefficient of drag and frontal area for a FV? A ballpark number would be great.

Zack, Actually........... Aaron turned a 207:10 in the first race this past weekend, which was only 2 tenths off the pole time. Technically, it is his 3rd race since drivers school in March. I have no idea what is going on with this kid. I never expected this kind of performance from him, and I coul...

Re: Low turnouts
As I said in my other post back on page 5, I am currently on my 13th heat cycle on my AR's. The 10th cycle I qual P1, the 11 cycle I won the race, the 12th cycle I qual P2. The 13th cycle I was in second place and had a little incident with the leader which ended my race. My point is that the AR's a...

Re: Low turnouts
Brian, I think it is great that you go to the gym, so do I. You know me well enough to see that I am not overweight............... well maybe 10lbs. Even if I lost the 10 lbs I would still be over by 40+lbs. As you know there are many more regional racers out here that are much larger than I am. I w...

Re: Low turnouts
In the SF Region we have been running a spec tire for years in our regional series. We are currently using the American Racer, which I believe is the same compound as the FST/CF spec tire. The design of the tire allows it to last just about down to the cords. I have 13 heat cycles on my tires after ...

Re: Low turnouts
In my opinion, racing for $$ is a bad idea, especially in formula cars at the club level. Every time I have been involved in a $$ race a couple of drivers turn into idiots and start taking to many risks, eventually taking themselves along with other drivers out of the race.

Re: On board camera suggestions
Jim, I actually did down load a program called Prism for free last week. It seems to work OK. I converted my .MOV file to a .AVI and still had the same problem regarding the editing. Then I converted the .MOV to .WMA and found the picture and sound quality to be a lot lower then the original .MOV fi...

Re: On board camera suggestions
Well after reading some of the information on this thread I did some research and decided to purchase an Aiptek HD DVR at Best Buy. It cost about $150.00 out the door. I then purchased a 520 lipstick camera on Ebay for $200.00 The camera came with the mic, cables, and battery holder. I decided to ha...

In this particular case the spring rate and wheel rate would be the same assuming the trailing arm is parallel with the ground.

Yes, you could use 3 memory cards, one for each session. The 2mb card will hold about 54min of video. I would also suggest changing the batteries when you change the cards.

Re: New HANS device info
If you are a manufacture you must protect your dealers with pricing control. I salute the Hans people for eliminating dealers that don't play fair. If any of you owned your own manufacturing company you would do the same thing. I must admit that I am a little disappointed, I just bought a new Hans d...
