Don't forget you can affect the front ride height by adjusting the angle of the beam (caster).

The runout may be true, but if it was turned undersize, it may be too small. Perhaps pull the flywheel, and fit the seal on the end to check for proper contact. You are gonna pull the flywheel to increase the end play aren't you??

If the BACK of the flywheel is oily, it's the crank/flywheel seal. If the flywheel is dry, it's the seal in the case.

Occasionally you'll get a leak through the end of the crank where it mates the flywheel. Try putting the paper/steel shim gasket there. You do need more end play!! The flywheel was tightened to 300 ft.lbs. or so, wasn't it? The stock 240 isn't enough.

OK..there IS more to the story as Stevan pointed out. What we did, check and fill the engine with the oil hot as stated, at idle. Without running the engine, the next day check the level COLD. It will be way above the Full mark. File a mark on the dipstick at this level. This way, you will know COLD...

Skirt clearance isn't as important as ring land clearance, and those heavy rings will beat up the ring lands first. Coating won't help this. Save your money and don't worry about coating the pistons with anything.

If you're using dykes rings that seal with combustion pressure, closing the throttle collapses the rings and creates a higher pressure in the crankcase than in the cylinder, sucking oil up past the rings. Keep the 6 volt starter and the 12 volt battery. I remember the old grunt start with 6 volt stuff. Even old boats had a series/parallel switch to crank a 6 volt system with 12 volts. "Don't fix it if it ain;t broke!"
