Greg;
You're correct. When my son Geoff was racing his 100cc Yamaha kart we had 60 pounds of steel bolted to it...

Question #2 starts: "Whether or not controlled manifolds are adopted..."
If the spec manifold will be superior in performance to the current manifolds: what's the point?

National Dates
In the northeast we've lost Summit Point, Lime Rock, Mosport, and half of the double at Poc-oh-no. The national at New Hampshire has been moved to a time of year when there's better sledding. Are other divisions experiencing the same cut-backs, or is it just here?

Re: WDCR adopts race lap penalties for 2010
If it's true that some WDCR influential-types are discouraging participation by formula cars, and I don't know if it is true... then wouldn't members of the WDC region that are involved in open wheel racing want to consider a region of record change?

Yep. Me and 3 other vee drivers (they'll remain nameless) just ran a 24 hour race at Nelson Ledges in a $500 Subaru Impreza. Had a blast, and were WAY the oldest people there!!

Re: Race Gas vrs Av. Gas
When I run down the straight against Grimes we're the same. He runs av gas, I run 110 octane track gas. His av gas is faster in the turns though!

Re: Oil Sump Rule Change
I'm concerned about sumps getting plucked-off on curbing, etc, but I'm even more concerned about the poor souls out there with engines angled downward ala Lazer & Citation XTC-41 :roll: . Even the 1.5 qt. sump will wind-up below the frame rail. That leaves us with 1.5 qts more oil for the crank ...

Re: Thunderbolt Raceway, NJMP
Best guess... At the regional Eugene had a long box & I had a short. I was floating the valves at the end of the straight with no drafting partner. In the National; I had a long box and like Ed said, there was room left at the end. I think the track was a lot greasier for the national (the regio...

Citation oil cooler
I saw a picture once (don't remember where) of a "cool air box" for under a Citation's tail. I think it was made of polycarbonate and had an oil cooler mount. If memory serves me correctly (rarely); someone was making and selling them. I use a filter / cooling block and have been tossing a...

Stephen; I'm also fighting a bottoming-out problem & thought stiffer on a smooth track would be better...maybe time to re-think (& experiment). Brian; I think our cars corner (near the limit) against the droop limiter - I could be wrong, wouldn't be the 1st time. You're right about the fixed...

Re: Springs
Brian (Harding); Yep, barely time to get the tires changed usually.. . there are other ways to soften the rate without swapping out the spring though. How about different tracks? Rough surface vs. newly paved and smooth? Do you see any benefit in harder springs in the rear on a smooth track, or is i...

Springs
A 2 part question;
1) What's the easiest way to determine a spring's rate? I have a couple of un-identified springs (rear). How do you guys load and measure them accurately (safely)?
2) Does anybody bother changing rear springs for different tracks or rain?
