When the rules were rewritten to streamline it a few years back, this portion was unintentionally left out. I think they are just putting it back to the way it was originally written. I would suspect there were some that took advantage of this accidental omission and will speak out.

Re: brake line questions
A tip on your braided line front and rear, lf you can try to make them all equal length. That way you can carry one and it will fit at any corner. I would also make sure they are run behind the beam and swing arms. They will be protected a little more.

Re: Tires?
Remmers,
A sunk cost is nothing more than taking an unrecoverable cost. Are we now going to argue semantics, cost, loss? You obviously do not care to add your loss, while I do. As for downsides read my previous posts.

Re: Tires?
Remmers, You forgot to put in the cost of existing rims. Most have at least 3 sets. Remember you are replacing them. You also did not account for those that have rain tires. Again being replaced. Now all you have to figure in is how many sets of tires a racer has from the previous year that he was s...

Re: Tires?
The simplistic example of how it was accomplished in the SF region was due to one person. He talked to most of the people and got a consensus. He then contacted a tire manufacturer, brought it before the FV group and asked us all our opinion. It worked because he took it on himself. He stayed on top...

Re: Tires?
I see how a spec tire would work in certain situations, but using examples that are basically a regional series is very different. FV racing is very much situational in the US. Out West the racing season is pretty much year round. We are not restricted as much by weather. I think I've had to use rai...

Re: October Meeting
I've received only one (1) e-mail and that was about the meeting at the runoff. I have yet to receive this one pertaining to the manifold specs. Thanks and will get you the specs from the three (3) I have.

Re: Tires?
I do not agree with either Greg or Matt. Neither have given a reason I consider justifiable. Comparing one class to another is an oxymoron. Personal opinion is just that. We have had a spec tire for Regionals out here on the West Coast for over 10 years. This year the numbers are down and it is due ...

Re: F1200
How long would an existing manifold stay legal if a spec manifold is approved? How would you control existing manifolds from further development? Use the manifold preparer suggestion? If so what is the need for a spec? How would you know the limit of existing manifolds, so the spec would be better? ...

Re: F1200
The link pin beam is required, but there are either the new ( heavier) or original ( lighter) beam, some say stronger, I know that is debateable. You can choose to leave stock or add adjuster(s). You could cut off the bump stops. Spring packs can be configured many ways. Thickness of sway bar. These...

Re: F1200
I beg to differ. FV is a restricted class. The engine, trans, brakes, wheel rims, tires, manifolds, make and chassis, suspension all have options. Even the beam has options.

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
The only reasonable option for me is the one presented by the manifold makers. It does not require a purchase. No one can guarantee me the same with the other options.

Re: Tires?
The main difference between the Hoosier/Goodyear tire and American Racer is the side wall. The A/R's are not as stiff, they flex more giving you that butt puckering feeling as you go through a corner sliding until they hook up. You compensate and drive the track with that in mind.

Re: Tires?
We have a spec tire out here on the Left Coast for regional races. Have had for over a decade. Has been mentioned numerous times and with how it was done. I don't know why it has not worked on the Right Coast, but I do not think it is just those that are getting tire sponsorship that are resistant. ...

I use this http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp ... ir=catalog Being a snap-on it is expensive, but you might find a hybred in a tool bin at your local hardware store at a lower price.

Re: Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
Jim, I have not had trouble finding parts. Some new, some used. Just because they are used does not equate to lesser quality, just as being new does not make them better. Price increases are a fact of life. FV is doing quite well as it is still the third largest subscribed class as has been previous...

Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
There seems to be another sky is falling senario on the Formula Vee class. It seems for over 20 years now the end was near. The reasons are basically the same. It seems again if something isn't done soon FV will no longer exist. This is an estabilshed class for 46 years. Jim is advocating for Fst. H...

Re: Lots of questions
I agree with Steve. The video is very helpful, especially if you have someone who is fast to compare yours to. I have learned a lot more watching them and noticing the differences. Line, Lift and braking point, turn in point, etc.
