Re: Low turnouts
Mark, Yes I do. I tore it down for a complete rebuild, new frame rails with some trick stuff done to it. I bought another car to race while working on the Lynx. Kind of a mistake I didn't get the Lynx back together, I had another heart attack and my faithful crew guy Bob moved to Florida and I have ...

Re: Low turnouts
This also brings up a real rub with me. The SCCA has done NOTHING to help the racer. TV is showing high school volleyball and lawnmower races and in 50 years the SCCA has done NOTHING to promote the races or racers. Actually they went out of their way to not promote. They didn't want drivers getting...

Re: Low turnouts
With a race weekend costing over $1000, and gas for the tow vehicle eating up an entry fee, it's a wonder anyone is coming out.

Re: Carb Air Scoop?
Yeha sure, THAt what the theory is. I've tested it plus know others that tested it and it takes good air flow. And if you see them they are always on an area of expanding frontal area, that is where they work. The only other area to get them to work on body work like a Vee engine cover is to duct th...

Re: Carb Air Scoop?
Unless you have real good laminar flow in a pressure area a NACA duct won't do much good even for sniffing cooler air.
Just stick your carb top through the body work.

Re: Tire Balancing
Up to 150 is good enough unless you are at Road America or a track with a really long straight.
I heard on TV they said the back straight at RA was a 180 mph straight, so you might want a better balance there

Re: Carb Air Scoop?
Several years ago, I took a 90degree exhaust pipe and adapted it to the carb top, and over the top of the roll bar. Direct ram air. We took a pressure reading with a 100" of water gauge. Driving on the long straight at Gratten, reading the "boost" at about 100 mph was so low that betw...

Re: Hmm.... I let the magic smoke out...
Dan, With what you have written it is difficult to make more than a WAG, (wild ass guess) If it smoked, and the motor kept running, it might just have been crud on to coil that got hot and burned off. BUT, beyond that, I guess it depends a lot on which wire you are writing about. 1: I would guess it...

Re: How Much oil?
To determine the amount of oil you want to end up with is: have the car running and the amount you see on the stick is to be at the full mark with the motor running. Start with 3 1/2 to 4 quarts of oil then check it and set the level. Keeping in mind how much you are putting in total. Now one word o...

Re: Vintage Vee Motor
BTW, how does a Z-bar work anyway? It works opposite of a Anti-roll bar? I don't get it. A Zbar is a droop limiter. It allows the car to roll without adding any load to the wheels, but in bump or droop, it will act as a torsion bar. In other words act as a suspension member in bump or droop. When y...

The stuff melts real easy.

Ditmar could be right.
SO if you really feel strongly about this if you really want to do this, then do it and don't tell anyone.
