Re: Thank You

I am pleased to report that the first time out produced no major problems. That does by no meam there is not a lot to sort out. I took the first two runs very slowly in second gear. First with out the rev limiter and then with the rev limiter set at 5100 rpms. Both times the car seemed to be either ...

Re: Thank You

I am going to a Martin Sports Car Club event in Tavares, Fl . I just want to run the engine a little to get it broke in before I upgrade the heads and valve springs. The rev limiter is set for 5000 rpm to keep me from doing anything too stupid. Also I need to get a feel for the whole car . It has be...

Re: Thank You

I agree with you on both issues. When I paint the car, the mirrors will be gone. As for your second suggestion, I am not sure what is going on with the front end. I have an adjustable ride height adjuster on the beam and it is set in the lowest position. I have thought that there might be other poss...

Thank You

After 5 months of assembling and reassembling, I am finally ready to take my solo vee project out on its first autox and do some testing and sorting. It has occured to me though that there are people that realy deserve my thanks in helping me get to this point. First is Gordan D of Melbourne, Fl. He...

Re: Nationals

Must say I am a little jealous because I was hoping to make it this year. I just will not get it (Caldwell D13 with 1915 cc motor) completed in time but hope you do well.

Re: wider wheels ?

I agree with as narrow as possible. So I guess that I will have to wait until the build is further along and get accurate measurements. I was just hoping that someone had a car like mine, so I could order the wheels awhile. Hopefully, I will be able to post some pics as the build actually gets start...

Re: wider wheels ?

I have done some initial calculations using stock and optional gear sets. I also looked at what sets other people have run specifically the Bakker SV that was for sale. But they were running a 1600 engine and I am planning on a 1915 with a 44 IDF Weber. So I am uncertain at this time what ratio to r...

Re: wider wheels ?

The car is a Caldwell D-13. I am using the link pin suspension and drum brakes. The tire combination I am going to use to start of with is 22 x9 x 13 front and 22 x 10 x13 rear but after a few runs I will reevaluate this set up along with the gearing.
Thanks for any help, Rich

Re: wider wheels ?

Right now I about 2 months away from "completion" of my solo vee project. I plan on running 13 x 8 front and 13 x 10 rear and need to order wheels.
What back spacing is everybody using?

Advice and opinions welcome

A friend of mine (thank you , Gordon) just gave me a Caldwell d13 chassis and body. So I am starting from scratch. I have read every post but still need a lot of advice before I start calling and ordering parts. So here are a few questions: I am going with a balljoint suspension but am not sure whet...
