Can't say about Texas Lasers, but recent is relative. Larry made the last Laser about 10+ years ago. Best bet would be to call or email Larry Campbell directly. Re: Different needle bearings on front beam

Think Brian is onto something. About 15 to 20 years ago there was a spell where you could only get bushing beams, but you could also get the needle bearings (just not installed on a beam). I modified one of out tools from work to bore out a bushing beam to accept the needle bearings. It controlled t...

Stephen,

I think what you had stated earlier is that the R55B FV tire and the R60A CFF tire are made with the same chemical blend. Choose your wording carefully 8)

Mark,

You are correct, June Sprints 2003. I was thinking one birthday earlier. Been to too many, they run together as you get older.

I'm hopeful that "managed" doesn't mean one needs to bring 5 sets of wheels per weekend

Re: Regional motor, needs rebuild

Tiago, Just a little history for you. The heads (or maybe more) are from L. Michael Gray (Mike Gray) or his busines "Gracing". The engine (if originally done by Mike) was more than likely pretty good. Mike was outside Kansas City, MO. He passed away about a month or two after Bill Noble. M...

A good source or point of reference is Butch Deer. He has driven on both and can give you solid feedback.

Vector GB-4

Listing this for Lance Renshaw Greg Bruns personal GB-4 last raced by Larry Bacon in San Francisco Region. Large Ron Chuck engine (see listing under engines). Body rough, need work, but could be a killer. Larry would run at the front of the field while being 70 lbs overweight (he is a big dude). Her...

Ron Chuck National Caliber Engine

Listing this for Lance Renshaw. Ron Chuck built engine, has one weekend from Ron Chuck rebuild and dyno. This is Larry Bacon's engine used in his Vector GB-4. Larry is a big dude and typically rolled across the scales 50 to 70 lbs overweight. This engine still kept him at the pointy end of SRF Regio...

Cars look cool too except for the weird carb/scoop http://www.formulavee.co.za/images/stories/Taylor_chases_Hills.png That's because the South African FV's use an inline 4 cylinder 1400 cc VW water cooled engines Here are the specs: http://www.formulavee.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=...

Exactly, Truer words have never been spoken. FST is a nice little regional class and I prefer to keep it that way. + 1 Please remember the topic of this thread.... Re: You asked for it.

Top speed probably 5 mph more than an FV at most tracks. Jim has listed the class differences very well and with reasonable self proclaimed bias. I do think that the "most" portion of this one statement needs clarification for long tracks like Road America or Pocono. We use the same longb...

Re: NZ FV

Gary was kind enough to send me photos and I checked it out with one of my Kiwi mates in NZ. Looks like the car was built/raced in New Zealand in the mid to late 70's by a bloke named Mike Richards. Mike was an officer in the NZ Navy and was stationed in the US in the early 80's. Good chance that wa...

I realize that the entry numbers for the "economy" classes in SCCA are in general going down due to economic conditions. However, the economy did not take a dump in late '05 early '06. Bill, do you have access to the total number of entries over the same period? I'd be very surprised to s...

Re: April meeting

The June Sprints this year were a victim of bad scheduling. It was the week after a double national at mid-ohio, and no one from the Great Lakes division came over for it. 4-5 cars from last years count were from that division - had they shown up the numbers would have been much better. Mike, Reall...

Re: Grattan Double Regional (7/23, 7/24)

This event is scheduled to be a Hoosier Tire 2011 US FST Series race and should bring out 12 to 14 FST's. It would be great for some FV's to show up to give a good performance comparison. The track is freshly paved, so look for track records to fall.
