Hey, We have a couple at least of the 500 guys completely removing the bodywork and bars at the sides of the cockpit down to the sidepods.. I wonder if this would be legal for a road racer. Of course, if it is not legal for a road racing car it would not be legal for a SOLO one. At least that is my ...

Re: Frame and roll cage design
Thanks for the reply.. I have looked through both of those but I seem to remember there were some specs concerning the cockpit sides.. Like how many bars are required and the vertical spacing between them but I cannot find that anywhere..
More help please..

Frame and roll cage design
Hello again,
I am wondering where the specifications for all frame designs are located... I know I have seen them before but I am not finding them in the GCR under Rules and Specifications nor in the Formula Car section.. A little help would be greatly appreciated..
All the best,
Johnny B.

Re: wider wheels ?
If I were you I would get the most backspace that I could as it keeps the total track dimension narrower and that is one of the 500's strong points. They are about 7"-8" narrower than us and it really is a major advantage in the slaloms..

Tight lipped bunch of buggers???
Hey, Just a reminder.. If anyone has suggestions for rules changes, now would be a good time to send a request to the SEB.. Anyone racing this year? I plan to campaign my car this year.. I have all the updates incorporated and although my driving is somewhat rusty, we should get an idea whether the ...

Re: Electric fuel pumps.
Hmmmm... If they are legal in FST, I would suppose that they would be legal in SOLO as they rewrote the rules to allow them to compete. However, I do not remember how that was done with that change. Anybody got an answer to this?

I hate you man!!!!
The good thing for me is that I am finally back to work and will be able to do some racing this year. This job is supposed to be for some amount of time between 6 weeks and 2 years.. LOL! You never know nowadays.
Now if it would just warm up....

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster
Art, I will say that the changes have improved the car in many ways and I feel that I can be competitive with enough seat time this year... However, it seems that this economy has hit us designer and engineer types hard. Especially those of us who were working on refinery projects. I have not worked...

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster
BTW, I did not mean that last post to sound arogant. It's just that I have not had the opportunity to compete at that level in the past few years due to work issues. However, I do have my car completely updated with all mods except LSD... I would suspect that if I am not able to be competitive with ...

Re: Why Is the F5 Faster
Considering that we used to be very close to the F5's some very few years ago, I have also wondered how they have gotten so much faster in spite of our rules changes... However, I am not going to suggest any reasoning until I have had an opportunity to be at nationals with my car and new tires. And ...

Re: Is there a consensus?
All, I think Greg has summed it up pretty well but I will add my $.02. You can get much more negative camber with the BJ. I have begun with 2-1/2 degrees this year and the car does not push at all any longer. It was a totally different car. The additional weight was not an issue as the disc brakes a...

Re: Is there a consensus?
Lynn, Maybe someone should ask for a rules change to allow bigger valves on the 1915.... WHat do you think? I suppose the answer would be that they will not change until some one shows up with a fully prepared Vee to see the results... I now have one but getting to nationals will be difficult if thi...

Re: Is there a consensus?
I haven't heard whether anyone has built a 1600 to the new rules but that doesn't mean it isn't so. Everyone that I have talked with went with the 1915. I hope someone has better info than me...

Anyone know what prompted the roll bar comment for modified classes in the new issue? How would this affect us? I thought that was what we were already complying with... What has changed?

Paul,
You might want to check Drews Off-road. They do all my engine work and have a great reputation... http://www.go-drews.com
They are here in Hamilton, Ohio. I do not know where you are but I thought I would give you the info.

Off subject but how did you screw up the engine? Sounds like you are having a continuing problem.. Are you running an extended oil sump and pickup? I destroyed a few engines before I finally found the one to solve the problem...

Re: Nationals
Vern, Did you guys experience the same kind of build-up of rubber on race rubber as some of the guys did in full size cars? How was the course design? More open than at the asphault Nats? Similar to Forbes field? My car is ready for next year. I am hoping the economy will turn aound before then... J...

SEB or MAC??
Would I send my request for a rule change to the SEB or the MAC for review? What is the enail address for the correct one? Now before the wrong person has a hissy. I am just going to ask that they make the provision at 12 C.6. for the reverse gear to be operable from the driver's seat to be optional...
