Complete 28PCI Carb

This is a stock 28PCI carb that I have disassembled, bead-blasted, washed, and inspected. It is ready to be converted into a FV carb. It needs a gasket kit, but has all the jets, and if you specify what size main and air correction jet you prefer, I will send those with the carb. (the emulsion tube ...

Noble Heads

This set of Noble heads is completely rebuilt with valves, springs, chromoly spring caps, a valve job, spring pressures set and has dyno time only. Please notice the damaged fins on cyl. #2. I am asking $550 for the pair, or $300 for either head. Mike Palermo Jr. Peak Performance Racing FVEEGUY@YAHO...

Complete set of Pistons/Cylinders

Brand New matched set of K/S Pistons. Within 4 grams in the box. Matched set of good used 18 fin cyls. Bead-blasted, honed to .005-.0055 clearance, bottom seating surfaces skinned .001 just to clean up and ascertain squareness and equal length. Near new C&A dykes rings/spacers in top groove, exc...

O/S C&A Chromoly Piston Pins

I have (1) set of o/s C&A pins. If your rods and/or pistons are slightly loose, these can save you the hassle and expense of having your rods rebushed. Instead, have them honed approx. .001 for a new fit with these pins. Approx. 63 grams. $65/4.

Childs & Albert Chromoly Piston Pins

Set of (4) C & A Superlight (62gr.) Chromoly Pins for $65. These have been spiral lapped (better oil retention/less wear). They are only .0002 smaller. Do you realize that at 6,000 rpm, each piston moves to TDC and back down 100 times every second!? This is the best way to achieve minimun recipr...

Brian,
Good news. Are these user/shops like us, or retailers? Any clue as to how many sets in inventory?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: October minutes

Brian, This is the first that I have heard that there are K/S sets available now. My understanding was that it was Lybarger that was bringing them in, and when I spoke with his employee Jeff last month, he said there were none, and they were not inclined to order more. Then I read a few posts up tha...

Re: October minutes

Not sure how you can say I avoided the question when I placed the answer immediatly above your name. Besides, you stated you had those pistons in your hands. Did you not measure them yourself? The only "ring land clearance" that I know of is that which is between that land and the cylinder...

Re: October minutes

Brian Harding, Thanks for the imput. That is pretty much what I had heard. Years back, I asked around about the possibility of having pistons cast, and the common reply was "how many thousand are you needing?" I also think you are in the ballpark on your estimate for a set of blanks worke...

Re: October minutes

Brian, I seem to be missing several points. Are you sure you don't mean GROOVE when you say LAND? The LAND is the material BETWEEN the GROOVES. How would WIDENING the grooves eliminate the need for spacers? Seems like you would either need more spacers or wider ones. I showed Fred the Chinese piston...

Re: October minutes

One phone call, and I have (4) sets of the Chinese coming to me. I have mixed feelings on these sets. In a way, I like the pistons better than any others because of their light weight. You actually NEED the long-wearing heavier stock pins. The disadvantage is the lower ring groove. If we could get t...

Re: 77MM Pistons?

Belated thought:
At least for my mind, the reason for the cracks that appear on stock pulleys is not the rate of spin, but I believe due to a flexing crank doing what it can to knock that pulley out of running on one plane.

Re: 77MM Pistons?

Good Points All. Lacking a Spintron, I just kinda go by what I see upon teardown. On the subject of crank flex: I am pretty good at listening (having learned that I learn nothing when it is me doing the talking), and will listen to anyone who wants to explain to me why almost all of the wear I see o...

Re: 77MM Pistons?

On the issue of bent cranks: I have had the last 100 + bent. The theory is simple (I'm a simple guy). Our cranks are a button on a string. I am just trying to compensate for the weight of the button. I have no idea at what point the crank is running "straight", and I would like to bend the...

Re: New pressure plate hitting trans case

Have you figured out what the problem is? Any chance that you have a 200mm pressure plate? This is possible if your flywheel came off of a 6 Volt Ghia. Those had the relatively rare combo of being the smaller diameter/starter gear with the larger press. plate/ disk. All of the 12 Volt flywheels that...

Re: vw case

Just curious as to what the latest prices are on any of the cases. I recently built an engine on one of the AL cases. Thought it was a good way to help keep the price down. After the engine set on the floor for over a year with no interest, I tore it back down and sold the case for (I believe) under...

Re: New Blueprinted Engine Case

Jim: Correct me if I'm wrong, but technically wouldn't both cases weigh less up here, being further from the center of the earth, and therefore wouldn't the difference also be less? I did weigh both cases and the difference is roughly 14 lbs, up here (so if my theory and calculations are correct, I ...
