Re: RULE CHANGES
First time on the forum in weeks, and having just read through all of the posts, here is an item that I find quite alarming, per SteveO, posted today (Feb 08, 2009): " in addition, the maximum OD of the manifold measured where the tube inserts into the two head flanges, and just above any repai...

Re: King Pin Replacement
RB, The only thing that I can add to the good advice is, that if you have access to something like a Sunnen bench hone , use it to finish the king pin bushings after you ream them a thou. or so undersizes. I did my first 100 or so sets, (mostly on street cars), using a factory reamer, but once I got ...

Re: Ring rules before the CRB
Brian, Here is why I think I am seeing no more wear, (and very possibly LESS wear) with the M/C ring pack: I believe it boils down to what the industry refers to as "D wall factor". In order to maintain a design unit pressure, the thinner the ring, the less wall thickness. While the stock ...

Re: Ring rules before the CRB
Along with agreeing on everything Brian said, I will add that I have found the M/C rings to run both cooler (less friction=less heat) and cleaner. I now have them running in about 10 engines, and I also see significantly less cyl. wear.

Re: Engine Removal...easy question!
From the pics, it looked like you had plenty of room to slide the engine forward, but for those cars where it is really tight, you can chop 3/8" off the pilot shaft adding a radius, and make removing/installing easier. For those who are ready to scream "Illegal", I offer this tip only...

Re: 23x5.0-15 Hoosiers?
I actually spoke with some of the guys at "The Flats" who were running those Goodyears about 4 years ago. They are all weather-checked on the sidewalls and looking scary. I believe the newest ones were 27 or 28 years old at the time! Here is the other part of it: Some are worn to the cord,...

Re: Motorcycle Ring Usage
Really did not intend to combine the M/C ring issue with the Chinese piston issue. My point is that if we choose to or have to go with those pistons, we can cover fitting the M/C rings with ease, saving a substantial amount of $. To my way of thinking, C&A going under just enforces the need for ...

Re: Head and neck systems ... request for input
It might be a good time to "do the numbers" on some of the options here. Concider this: If we are talking about the original design 1200 cc piston, with the 2.5mm top and 2nd. ring grooves, such as we had made for us by K/S, AND if you are using C&A dykes rings: It is my experience tha...
