Re: Hans Device

I have the sliding tethers, used one with out before buying my own. on track no differance, but in the pits, you try and look down a side road and twist your helmet on your head. I got the 2" shoulders in my car and they are mounted very close, but still fall off the hans???????????????????

Re: Battery charging question

the newest thing I did was to buy a solar charger, mounted it to the roof of my enclosed trailer, it is a trickle charger so the battery is charging all the time when the sun is out, being in Florida it is quite helpful.

Re: Av gas

the airport closest to my house is very happy to sell me av gas. here in fl. they list it as "air"boat? they don't do self service, they pump it from the truck into my cans, and help me carry them to the car.

Re: Formula Vee Cartoon D13's ??? Very Cool

It was done by a college girl as a project. her dad owns my old D-13. as for the veehive name. at PHA hillclimb events her Dad sets up a big shelter that all the vee drivers pit under. someone walked by one day and said" that must be the vee hive, look at them all." I have a photo of the 5...

Re: Race Gas vrs Av. Gas

I have found that a 50/50 mix leaves my exaust pipe the nicest shade of gray. but most of the time I run 100% av gas. have a nice air port near by. they seem to get exicited to sell it for a race car, even though my recipt says "airboat" on it

I'm a mid guy, have a pair of high, but don't fit in the foot box that well. if you ever saw my car (small) you would understand. shoes are driver's call. what feels, works best for you and your car.

suits have no date. I have found wearing a 1 layer with underwear is cooler, even in FL. try to get the Carbon-x stuff it is the most comfortable,IMO, but also most expencive. THOR FV#70 CFR region member you could allways get a "cool-shirt" they DO work, but can not find room for the cool...

Re: need advice on reverse lockouts

best one I have ever seen is the one on dads car! they cost alot, but worth it in the hills. I made one for the D-13 we sold, it worked but not as good as dads. talk to him, he can give you Taggert's number, and Ken can make you one. the one in my car works, but can hit reverse if I try real hard. s...

Re: Battery charging question

spair battery is a good idea, the "jump" battery I speak of is a backup for the car. so can be swaped out if need be. yes the water proof battery tender is worth it, can be totally under water and still work. great for rainy days at the track. I will only buy the water proof ones. plan on ...

I use/have the waterproof battery tender, I plug in when I come off the track, or when ever I can. with the battery tender you can leave it pluged in for long amounts of time. I also have a "jump" battery, I plug in with a quick connect for the extra boost strating when cold. sometimes I'l...

Re: New manifold rules in GCR

Just a thought,
is it a possibility that the excess bronze is there to bring it up to the min weight, because of material removed from the inside? an illeagle manifold, thinned out so much that weight had to be added to get the 24 oz?
just a thought.

Re: Extended sump question

I agree with the "free sump" rule, but I'm not going to fit a 3qt. monster like I have on my VW thing. vees don't need that much oil, and who needs/wants the weight of it. my thing has an 1835cc monster in it and the extra oil really helps with cooling. a full qt. of extra oil would be nic...

I race with the owner of that beech. I feel that it did the wrong thing. it all started when he seized the 1200, then on to a 1600 solo vee, now it is a 2,300 or something like that. which last I heard was at the builder for more hp. he is running discs and only going up hill. but he did crash it ha...

I too have thinned the wallet for a HANS I think if the SCCA requires them the price will drop, but not right away. it is like the rest of the world, supply and demand. if we have to wear them then the demand will be high, at first, the all the retailers will have lots of them so the prices should g...
