Re: cylinder jug air deflectors-use or not?
GCR 9.1.1.C.9.L "Forward facing air ducts may be installed for the purpose of delivering cool air directly to the engine, cylinder heads oil cooler and/or carburetor." If these ducts are within the profile area defined in section c.12, then the ducted air must make a 90 degree bend within ...

Re: cylinder jug air deflectors-use or not?
It's hard to see in the pictures, but the top duct is not typical. It's open in the front and back, so the air travels straight across the top of the cylinders. The bottom duct is sealed well, and is basically the same as most vees. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3111/3685365438_9507e7b643.jpg?v=0 h...

Re: cylinder jug air deflectors-use or not?
I spoke to Ed and Dave, pulled them from the bottom and was going to put them on top if I had a problem. I ran at Limerock, 80 degrees out, oil my temps were really low almost too low 170's. Thats even with a smaller oil cooler installed. Not sure how even the air is flowing, but its running cool. I...

Re: cylinder jug air deflectors-use or not?
I do not use the deflectors, the main cooling is from the bottom, and the top duct forces warm air out of the engine cover.

“Some are more interested in using their fancy phone in the race car than in actually making the car faster” How do you know you’re going faster? … wait until the end of the race and get your lap times… Bad, Pit board…ok… use a lap timer… strap a 2x3 box to your dash, another one on the roll bar… an...

Not sure if they will win, but they do have a fair case. Did you read the patent? This is a summary from the actual patent (I've also included a link), attorneys can easily argue that this description can apply to defNder G70 product. "SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention is an improv...

Re: Tire Pressure Question
I did my school last year and rented a car, it's the way to go unless you have some help. In most schools, you get out of the class room and jump right on the track. You might have time to put a splash of gas in the car... but if it's raining, and you need to change tires... you'll miss a session.

Re: Painting brake drums
Most people say do not paint the rim mounting area of the drums. For the rest of the area...that you can paint... I wipe them down with brake cleaner first and then use Surface Prep, you can find it in most auto paint stores. It's used by body shops to prep metal for paint and helps the paint adhere.

Re: Cutting patterns in metal
Any tips for cutting aluminum sheets (.063) like for a firewall etc.? I tried using a jig saw, and at any speed or blade type the blades get clogged with material (melted into the blade). Running it slow works best, but then I'm left with a ruff edge. I have a metal nibbler, but hate to use it becau...

Re: Headrest location and material
My current car has the headrest bolted to the firewall, the firewall is bolted to the frame (no pop rivits). I had a problem in tech last year with sleeping pad foam, they said the sleeping bag foam had too much spring. SR has SFI Approved High Density Foam cut to your size.
