Re: Mosport F1200 May 7-8

Greg, The fastest time posted all last year, the first year on the Falken tires, was a 1.44.9. This year on the first weekend out, four drivers beat that time, whilst the gap back to the rest of the field was 4+ second a lap! Any thoughts where the extra speed came from and the discrepancy to the re...

Re: fuel cells

I've had such a cell accepted.

As long as the cell is FT3 compliant and contained within a compliant container it is acceptable.

I take it that FV is comprised though no fault of its own but due to the lack of F500s.

Re: Formula Vee in the UK

So would you say vee's in the UK are more like FF's now? Correct, during open testing you would regularly see a front running Vee keeping up with a mid-pack 1600cc Formula Ford. FF if you mean Formula First (not Formula Ford). Much more like FST than FV (US version). Engine size/rules, wheelbase an...

Re: Rationals scheduled in the West

Without wishing to sound naive, surely the reason for combining Regional and National races is the low entries in both levels. Combining the Regional and National races ought to mean that there are enough Vees and Fords (‘F’s) to get their own race groups and not need to run them together.

Re: Formula Vee in the UK

My first taste of FV was in Britain 1992, so I know a little bit about FV in Britain. FV started in Britain in 1967 (a couple of months before Formula Ford started) and initially the cars were the same as the USA, but local conditions meant that the cars soon changed. The first change was to the 130...

Re: Transmission

When was the last time that you had the clutch assembly apart?

If it has been sometime, the pressure plate and disc may have rusted together. I had this happen earlier this year; I just drove the car around the paddock until the disc broke loose. It has been perfectly okay since.

Re: FasTrack FV Final Manifold Rules Proposal

Does this rule clarification mean reasonable priced competitive inlet manifolds with be available to all?

Or will competitive manifolds remain in the $1000+ range which can only be detrimental to the long term future of the formula?

Re: Electric fuel pumps.

The British Vees rev to 7500rpm, an electric fuel pump was essential as the mechanical pump starts to experience their equivalent of ‘valve bounce’ at those revs. Of course, there is a safety issue with electric pumps in that in the event of an accident the pump will not stop with the engine. Should...

Re: The passing of Tom Mayerhoffer

At my first SCCA race at Grattan in 2005, Tom made a point of coming over and welcoming me to USA. Some how he knew I was British and he wanted to know if I’d raced against his old friend Andres Serrano in England. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing.

Re: More novice questions....

A thought on rain lights. While a single-bulb ‘Dollar Store’ light might seem bright enough in your garage and satisfy Annual Tech, can it be seen, when it really matters, on a wet track through a ball of spray? FV generally the slower class in mixed-class races, for your own safety it is imperative...

Re: F1200

Greg, you didn't answer the question about entry fees. How much does it cost to buy into the F1200 series? School, entry fees and required gear. A race entry costs C$325 for weekend. For this you generally get 3 - 20min races + practice, qualifying and a 10min Sunday morning warm up. The race seaso...

Golden Harvest –Nelson Ledges- Thank You.

I’d like to use this forum to offer my thanks to everyone in the Formula Vee community who helped load my car and trailer, while I was in hospitalized with a broken wrist, all of whom were gone by the time I returned to the circuit. Everyone’s’ help and support was very much appreciated and SCCA’s r...

Re: Custom Seat Question

Make sure you have your driving suit on when you do this. I am not sure about the wisdom of wearing your racesuit. It is all too easy (especially when doing this for the first time) to spill the two-part foam or hole the garbage bag or whatever you are using to hold the foam, while it forms into th...
