Bugformance carries press in studs I use. They require drilling out the drum to fit the studs and the studs have a flange that needs to be cut down a bit to clear the brake shoes and hardware but they will work in drums that have lost the threads.

Great news Steve. I agree that costs are probably the most important thing but suggest we consider the life expectancy in the cost calculation. A modern forged piston will outlast a cast version hands down.
