Re: Need a winter checklist
I change my master cylinders and battery each year. Batteries are cheap and it is better to be safe than sorry. I change the master cylinders because they are relatively cheap too, and in the northwest, there is a lot of humidity in the air over the winter, and I usually find one frozen with gunk by...

Re: Offset camber bushings
Without offset bushings, you will not get much more than 1 degree negative. Maybe 1.25 max. If you have the offset bushings, 1.5 should be easily attainable. I have run with both. Depending on how your car is set up, you may not need more than 1-1.25 degrees. If all you have is 1 degree with 14 shim...

Re: WTB: Scoop
Can you be more specific? Are you looking for a cooling scoop? Engine or oil? Are you looking for a NACA duct of some sort for the front of the car? I have no idea what you mean by "hood scoop".
Thanks!
Thanks!

6 point to 7 point conversion
I have a Willans 6 point camlock Formula Car belt set. I want to add the 7th strap that goes between my legs and anchors in the middle. Do I have to buy an entire new bottom section, or can I simply add a submarine strap somehow?

Re: WDCR adopts race lap penalties for 2010
I for one think this is a FANTASTIC idea. I am 100% in support of shortening the sessions for FV's. This will help to increase the life of tires, lower gas consumption and allow for less engine wear and tear. Additionally, by shortening the session and still charging the same amount, it will not low...

After I empty my cell, I also keep the top off. The vapors are what actually hurts the foam inside. I made a little screen that I tape over the opening to prevent a delinquent teenage bug from going in for a sniff.

Are you not able to respond to my valid statements about a spec tire? The best you can do is change the discussion to manifolds? How is that going to move the spec tire topic forward? Brian You brought up the cost of new wheels, so be prepared to have it thrown back in your face. Matt, Brian brough...

Brian McCarthy does my tranny. He's great and i have never had an issue with it.
Give him a call - 916-712-5742
Take the axles off and you can put the center section into a reinforced cardboard box and it'll ship UPS just under the weight limit.

Re: Gell cell batteries
I'm no Jim Schings, but here goes...... ;-) Battery testers and Battery conditioners can give you the % capacity info on a battery. I am not positive it works on a gel cell, but I believe so. You can also put a meter on it, crank the motor and check the voltage after you stop cranking. Anything less...

Not sure I would classify that as saving serious coin. We only use what, 10 gallons in a weekend? Pump Gas is $3/gallon, Track gas is $8.50. That saves $55 in a weekend and you have to deal with the headaches Steve points out. Also, what out for ethanol additives in your fuel cell. I think I will st...

Hoosier made the vrocs for the Colorado regional series and I understand will make them again if enough interest is shown. What I don't understand is why no one goes beyond the forum and do what the SF region did and approach the local SOM and start the program. It's time for the inspiration to tra...

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
Per Jim's point, I think that is why you make the control manifold bigger and limit that with a restrictor plate. If you combine the two, you get the best of both worlds. a cheap manifold, with a restrictor plate to stop people trying to acid etch and go crazy with the control manifold.

Update:
Dennis did not suffer a neck injury. During the roll, Dennis' helmet made light contact with the racing surface. As a precaution they transported him to the hospital in Sheboygan. He was examined and released. He credits his 7 point belt for keeping him unharmed.

You can buy a kit from the Jennerjahn's. $12,500 gets you basically the frame, body work, and the fabricated parts. All VW parts, shocks, fire bottle, seat belts, steering wheel, brake components, instrumentation, exhaust fuel cell, etc. not included. You'll be in for around $20-25k if you do the wo...

What makes the Vortech the best? Simple....3 things: 1- They are light 2- They cool the heads better than pretty much anything else 3- (most important) They are driven by some of the best drivers in the country. Put Brad Stout, Steve Oseth, or Nuby in a Caracal and they'd still be at the front. Put ...

I am looking at this from a national perspective.
If anyone wants to do it at a regional level, they should approach their region to add the spec tire into the Regional Sup's, just like San Francisco and other regions have done.

Okay, I have spoken to Hoosier and are still waiting to hear back from GY regarding a spec tire. If people really want to do this, I will get on board. If you're talking about the gasket between the top and bottom of the carb, I don't think I would ever put silicone on that gasket, but that's just me. Sounds like you may have had a warped carb.
