Re: 1970 Lynx vee
For alignment I bought play sand. It comes in 50 lb. bags, buy enough to exceed your weight. Use your bathroom scale to measure each bag until you total up enough, dumping the excess from one until you match your actual weight. Place the bags in the seat area. Then you can do your own alignment. The...

Re: April Fastrack--Oil Sumps
The pump we use does require a smaller dia. pulley. They are readily available or you can just do what I did and turn down the O.D. until the belt groove is gone. If the rule is worded correctly (Pump gear sizes specified) there would not be excessive negative vacuum. The tank I am having made is 3&...

Re: April Fastrack--Oil Sumps
FST horsepower gain was 1-1.5 IIRC. The 2 stage pump that we use does not provide enough vacum to give a serious negative crankcase pressure. The real benifit IMHO is longivity. It is really nice to prepare for a new season with only a head freshen and an oil and filter change. As opposed to having ...

Re: April Fastrack--Oil Sumps
A dry sump system for a FV should cost pretty much the same as FST. The pump is 100, then approx. 50-100 for fittings and hose. You will probably have to make a tank or have one built, I am having one done for 125. Last year I bought one off e-bay very reasonable (75 I think). It can be done for und...

Another tip;
Copy everything that you send in, if it gets lost then you won't have to go back to the doctor and ask him to please fill out another form and hope he won't charge another office call.

Re: More Better dumb question??
FST does not allow coil overs on the front. Our common set up is very much like a vee with a spring pack in one tube and an anti roll bar in the other. We just get the benefit of the ball joint front end which is far easier to set up in my opinion.

Re: December Racecar Engineering Magazine and Vees
You can bet those Polo motors are making more than 60 h.p.
Wings on a current Vee would probably knock 10mph off the top end.
Note the diffuser at the back.
They do look cool though

Re: Maybe NASCAR should turn the 400 over to FV's
The only reason that I kept watching this living goat screw was that I'm a chair in our local SCCA region, and I wanted to remember the most horrible event in the history of motorsports for one of those days when an event that I'm chairing has problems..... That may be THE funniest thing I'v...

Don't know if Scott is going to Milwaukee or not. I've only seen him out once this year. I think he said he was running a 1915 this year other than that his car looked the smae to me.

Re: What in the world is this?!?
Any aircooled VW engine was initially ok up to 1600cc. The class started with mostly Type1 but eventually migrated to Type4 with VW making domed pistons and othe stuff available. A good engine put out about 165hp just before they switched to the Rabbit motor.

Don't know about INR but South bend is having one this sunday, come on over. Maybe Scott Nardin will show up.

Re: Transparency
Those are the correct track rental rates. SBR is running a national at the end of August at GingerMan and the budget for the event is $28k and change. It will take a 100 car entry to break even. Last year we lost money for the same event. I can't speak for other regions but we have an open financial...

Re: Chevy Trans cooler Install
Skip the radiator. My M.H. has a cooler with out a radiator connection, vintage 454 chevy and temps don't go over 200 when towing a 16' trailer. My pickup has a seperate cooler also from the factory that by passes the rad. 12x12 should by plenty big.

I'm going to see if I do a little beter this weekend. I got some take offs from the Goodyear truck at Grattan a couple weeks ago, Formula Continental fronts. They should stick better. Hopefully it will cure my slow speed understeer.

Re: Sitting.... just sitting and waiting
I have one Vee that runs in my region it belongs to Scott Nardin. Needles to say the his only competion for FTD comes from a really quick 125 shifter cart driver. I am usually 2 sec back with my Hard tires (r60) on my FST which is prepped to RRspecs. I still have a good time despite the disadvantage...

Re: Sticky throttle cable
The Tech people seem to encourage the use of 2 return springs on the carb but I have never found a direct rule stating that it has to be that way. After my stuck wide open throttle experience this weekend at Grattan you can bet there will be 2 on there the next time!
