Re: Just don't get it!
What I was trying to say before is that apparently it isn't that simple. We've had surveys before where the majority was still ignored or disregarded. It's just the way things work, nothing seems to change unless there's very nearly 100% support. Actually, I think it's the opposite. The surveys oft...

Re: Just don't get it!
We have a "spec" tire. Hoosier R45/55. Can we go to something like the hard compound used on (dare I say it?) FST? Seems like a simple change. Dave It does seem simple, but it isn't, at least to a fairly large percentage of people. Some people won't accept slowing down our cars in any way...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs
Like some of us have been saying, I feel it's important that the drum brakes remain the clear obvious choice for winning the runoffs. If you don't mind the characteristics of drum brakes, and the price of shoes - fine, keep them and you lose nothing. Those that hate them will happily get rid of them...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs
Wrong path. You are pushing $800+ (without a beam) to put on an out of production beam with weak axles and terrible geometry. The VW BJ beam parts for spindle to spindle is under $500 and that INCLUDES a beam with needle bearings. Neither will ever happen due to the lack of consensus. Stay with dru...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs
I'd love to run the ball joint beam, but that introduces a few other advantages.. I doubt that would ever "fly". The ease of adjusting camber alone would be a pretty significant improvement, I think! Edit: I *think* there are wide 5 rotors for the ball joint beam as well, aftermarket of co...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs
I'm glad we seem to have a couple more people interested or at least willing to talk about disc brakes.. I actually think the idea of allowing a kit at a substantial weight penalty would be great. Those of really are tired of dealing with drums would get their chance, but those who have figured out ...

Best of luck.. I guess the disc brakes idea might get more traction every time someone comes up with it, but I don't think this time will be THE time yet.

Re: oil presure threads
Hey Don, I thought they were M10x1mm threads in the case.. Might be close enough to the NPT threads, but I know cip1 (and of course, the Vee specialist places) have m10x1 oil pressure senders or various adapters for the different threads..

I applaud innovation and I love to see what people come up with to make our cars go a bit faster. That said, you can't honestly be saying the spirit of the class is innovation. Just look at our cars...! While I do want to see the class evolve and feel it's fair game for people to exploit holes...

I'll check what I have at home when I get a chance!
I know there are suppliers for these, but they're not all that cheap. http://www.resuspension.com probably has them..

what kind of shock is it? And do you need the ride height adjuster, or the fixed collar that sits on the shaft?

I said I'd take a break from the forum, but.. How did we go from THAT, to accusations that they were alongside, had contact, someone had been pushed against the wall and almost wrecked, etc..
Thanks for posting the video, I think that clears things up quite a bit.

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
Good job on being pedantic with my numbers. Are your eyeballs frozen to your face? Sitting in your current position, can you not turn your head and your eyes so that you're looking completely perpendicular to your computer monitor? That's scarier than you not using your mirrors. Sheesh. I'm not a pr...

Re: Brake question of the month
I'm not sure about this, but aren't there two different sizes of wheel cylinders that'll fit on our cars? I know front and rear are different sizes, but can't remember if they're interchangeable or if there are two styles of rears, or fronts, or whatever..

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
There is one tiny difference between karts and bikes, and a formula car. Our field of vision is about 180 degrees. That means on a kart or bike, you can turn your head 90 degrees, and have a pretty good idea of what's going on behind you. On a Vee, our vision is blocked by.. You know.. Half of the c...

Re: Brake question of the month
Brian, I haven't thought that hard about how proportioning valves work, but I was always under the impression that, contrary to a bias bar, they always reduce the "efficiency" of the system.. That is, they reduce the amount of braking power in the rear without increasing the front. If you ...

Re: Was Brad's Brundage Cup block OK?
Jim - even those who did see the issue can't apparently agree on what happened. Steve was a couple car lengths behind (if that) and says they weren't alongside, autowerks posted here saying they were definitely side by side and Brad pushed Roger into the wall. I think we can all agree that blocking ...

Re: Brake question of the month
Yup, I feel for us "newbies", it's sometimes pretty hard to tell that you're locking up the rears. You do want the fronts to lock up first, you can see it/feel it much easier, and the car understeers. When you lock up the rears, you'll often not realize they're locked up. You're just flat ...

I'm more curious about the alternative custom shoes that Brian M. talked about a month ago, they sounded a bit more in my price range. I still h...

I had to splurge for the torquemeister. I'd need a 20 foot cheater bar if I had to rely on my body weight
I think we should revert the minimum weight back to 975lbs, by the way!
