Re: June Sprints/Lowest entry since 1963
There are plenty of shops that will gladly prep yor FV (some for much less than a FF,FC,or CSR). The market does not appear to be there. I guess going to a spectator race is Just very taxing on low key guys. Even the Vintage Vee guys avoid the high profile vintage events like the black plague.

June Sprints/Lowest entry since 1963
I saw my first vee race at the 1963 June sprints. As I recall there were 6 Formcars and they all raced in a pack. The followning moday I ordered a new kit and had it on the track before the end of the year. This years entry appears to be 10 vees. This would be the second lowest sprints entry since v...

Re: October Meeting
I was around when the initial 12' rule was made. The intent was to limit the oil cooling capacity when adding a remote oil filter. When remote oil coolers were allowed the need to limit the cooling capacity became a moot point but the 12' rule stayed because it was there and nobody seemed to care. L...

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
FV was based on the fact that cars could be built with a supply of cheap and available parts. This is not true today. It does require scrounging to find pre 1965 parts. When Al Varcins said FV was always a scroungers class I think he ment he was always a scrounger. He was a scrounger when He and Mik...

Re: National Vs Regional Drivers
I have been racing since 1959. Most of it in a vee since 1963 when they were first a class. On a low budget for years I had limited travel money.( the largest part of my FV budget) and ran were and when I could. Regional, National, Midwest Council any race close to home on a weekend I could afford t...

Well I guess my favorite has to be a Speedsport . There was a bit of a mix in the fight for 2nd place before the big crash. To bad the field was locke and finished under a full ciurse yellow not allowing the tipical road america last lap stratagies to take place as I suspect there may have been somt...

Re: Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
Observation tells me that most of the new FV drivers are children of past or present FV drivers. So to get the competition back go forth and multiply.

Re: Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
I feel it's all about the competition not the absolute speed. Most competitive vee racers enjoy the competition which is why the runn offs is usually a great race. The old pro vee series was that way. What I feel is going away today is there is not much copetition with an average of 7.6 cars per rac...

Re: Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
New piper FF nationally competitive $80,000.00 Plus. If you thinkk FF doesn,t cost thst much more than multiply your budget by 4 to stay at about the same level of competitioin.

Re: Does FV NEED TO BE SAVED ?
The particpation numbers for formula vee show it to be thweSCCA's #3 most popular class. However only 2 SCCA Classes have double digit numbers. Being #3 of twent something with an average of 7.6 or so dosent speak well for FV as much as it speakes poorly for the SCCA. I was at a regional at Nelson L...

Mike Jackson has a similar setup he uses for his vintage cars. The use of an electric winch makes it possible to load with one person.
