Re: Low turnouts
IMHO - poor FV turnouts relative to other classes are indicative of the 'cheapness' of FV'rs  We pinch the penny more than any other class, and when fuel prices and entry fees are what they are, FV seems to feel the most heat from it. Personally, I think all the other classes should get tog...

Re: On board camera suggestions
Thanks for the suggestions Bruce - but it's about 100 times WORSE using that setup.. The file SIZE is much smaller (that would be good), but the audio is some 20 seconds off after that change. I guess it's specific to the model of the Lyra unit. Mine is a X2400A and your's might be the prior X1200A....

Message sent to FV Registry participants
I sent a message out to everyone who's signed up in the FV Registry. If you are in there and didn't receive it, then drop me a note and I'll resend. If you are NOT in the Registry yet, please be sure to get over there and sign up. The Ad Hoc Committee is seeking 'guidance' from the FV Participants -...

Congrats - but I can GUARANTEE YOU that T&S will NOT like that number against those colors. You need to do a bit of 'consistent color contrast' for your number (try working T&S as a taper some weekend! Try to read that number as it goes by at 100 MPH and 300 yards distance ... (and you must ...

Re: Sticky throttle cable
Per the GCR, you need two return springs on the throttle linkage... Mike - I'm not aware of any such rule and can't find it in the GCR. Is there REALLY such a requirement? And, if so, where would I find it in the GCR? Not to say it isn't a GOOD IDEA! :) - just wondering about a RULE ( *I* would be ...

Re: Tech inspections at Nationals - was Summit Point National
Brian (et al) There is a provision for national clarification of an existing rule on YOUR OWN car .. but it's still not FREE and it doesn't give you the right to look at OTHER people's cars. OTOH, I do agree with you that it would be much nicer for all, if Tech could just roam around on Saturday and...

Re: '72 Lynx Solo Vee off season rebuild
Don't think you need more ground CLEARANCE - what you need is a higher spring rate. Possibly add some coilovers to your front shocks? (I THINK they're now legal in Solo2?). You might also (or instead) go to an external front sway bar and install a second spring pack - if you don't already have 2. Yo...

In case you haven't heard ... national has decreed that at least TWO items SHALL be checked on each car in impound at all national races this year (essentially, this means at least ONE thing beyond weight) - the items should...

OK - it's been a while - we've picked up a few more registrants and I've updated the list at the top of this thread accordingly. We're still looking for the rest of 'em. I have also added a few from the birthday party entry list. Keep your eyes peeled and TELL THEM about it if you come in contact. F...

Re: Carb Air Scoop?
What do you mean by low enough to fit within the rules ? I am not aware of any rules that limit the height of any bodywork. Also - FYI, almost all of those scoops have a primary function of feeding air to the oil cooler. You don't want to RAM air into a Vee carb - you won't be able to jet it - just ...

Set it on one .... or six. There is no way to tell with the (lack of) info you provided - and there really isn't any way to tell anyhow. Every car is different and if you have no real experience in a Vee - it won't make enough difference to matter. Shock settings will generally come into play only w...

Re: Wanted to buy, Front Shocks. Citation Seat
Dean,
You might try steering dampers. You can get them with 'eye' holes on both ends - ck with Bob Lybarger - RaceCarSupply might also have them - or you can drop by your local VW parts store. They are about $40 or so each and work reasonably well. I ran them for MANY years on my car.

John, There is no reason why you can't use the measurement process for when the gearbox IS in the car. See below - you will need a degree wheel and some method of locking one side of the trannie (axle) while turning the other. Transmission Gear Ratios "Type" gear part number trans. type # ...

The very first zero roll FV was (and still is) the Shadowfax - designed and built in 1969 (I think) by the late Harvey Templeton. The car is now owned by Mike Jackson and it was at the 45th party at Roebling. He regularly kicks 'a' in the Monoposto vintage races as his is the ONLY car with zero roll...

Re: FV Racing Sim Development
To answer a couple of your questions... A well set up Vee with good tires can achieve around 1.6G side load - with spikes higher, but that's about it for average. And NO - a vee will NOT flip over in a spin ... UNLESS it digs into something .. like DIRT. :-) Also - AFAIK, there is NO minimum ride he...
