That's how a piano works. There are two or three strings that are tuned slightly different, and the result is a louder and longer sound.SR Racing wrote:The logic for 2 lengths is that you will have 2 peaks close together. These peaks will broaden the RPM range that maximum HP is made.

Re: Exhaust Systems
My solo vee (1600) has primaries that are about 48" long, with a 4 in 1 collector. (I hope it helps with the low end.) I assume you should measure the center line of the pipes. Although, if you want to be precise, I guess a volume measure would be more exact. Is it legal to have cockpit adjusta...
Re: F500 mods
It seems to me that removing the side bars from the car in that picture would severely reduce chassis stiffness, and thereby compromise handling. I certainly wouldn't want to hit any solid barrier in a car like that.
Re: F500 mods
I'm not sure about that. Those mods are not legal for a road racer, but we can do lots of things that are not legal for a road racing vee.

That's not tire smoke, it's chalk dust. Did they put chalk on the racing line, or did you just go wide that turn?

The backspacing depends on your brakes and suspension. It's probably best to borrow some wheels and test fit. Where are you located?

Re: Clutch won't stay adjusted
I've always had problems where the hemispherical nut on the slave cylinder shaft interfaces with the hole in the clutch lever. Sometimes it nestles in the hole nicely, and other times it rides up on one side which changes the adjustment by about 3/8". Check and see if you have the same issue. I...

Re: wider wheels ?
The "standard" size wheel for solo vees are 13x8 front and 13x10 rear. That's with 20x7.5 front and 20x9 rear Hoosiers, R25B compound. Those tires will also fit on 13x7 and 13x9 wheels, but check the Hoosier website--it gives the wheel width range for all the tires. With the new engine rul...

Re: SoloVee stiff steering
Jack the front end off the ground. Grab one wheel and try steering it. The other front wheel and the steering wheel should turn easily. If not, it's binding somewhere. If that's OK, then the alignment may be messed up. My sole vee is difficult to steer at slow speeds on the grid, but at speed on the...

Re: WTB !3" Wide Five Pattern Wheels
Kieser makes some nice 3 piece wheels, expensive
Real Racing wheels makes a 1 piece version, cheaper and a bit heaver than the Keiser
You can get steel ones from Diamond.
You may be able to find some used ones on this forum, but they don't show up very often.

That's interesting. They use a fan shroud, and the exhaust runs under the gearbox. I wonder how much ground clearance that car has.Veefan wrote:

Yeah, we have our first event in 10 days, but I'm not sure I'll run. My car's been sitting outside all winter covered in snow until it melted last week. (The snow, not the car.) The local parking laws now prohibit trailers on the street. :x I think my gearbox is leaking from the input shaft, and cau...

That sounds fine to me. It would stir things up a bit, and keep FM from becoming a F500 only class.

Does the ball joint beam help with the suspension geometry? Every picture of my car in a corner shows the outside front wheel with 3 or 4 degrees of positive camber.
Hey, is it legal to weld the front suspension solid? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

SR Racing has the "hockey stick":

You just need 5/8" rod to attach. I'm not sure where to get the u-joints. SR probably has those too.
