Re: MYSTERIAN

I'm thinking that Roger S has listed his as a 1989, but I don't see that now. Maybe Larry Bacon would know?

Re: Tires

It seems they bought it because it was a money making enterprise. I don't think the change in ownership will have any noticeable impact on SCCA racing. Continental should recognize the success of the previous owners and follow that pattern with little, if any, change. At least they will if they have...

Re: *Official FV Runoffs Thread - 2016* - Brian McCarthy

I am sad to report that Brian McCarthy died last night. Most of you know that Brian was a tremendous asset to the FV Community as well as SCCA. In addition to serving on the FV Ad Hoc Committee, Brian also served on the CRB and the BOD.

His presence will truly be missed.

Wow! The young kids are finally starting to take over. I managed to go a little faster today but nothing compared to the 'children' :-).

Re: *Official FV Runoffs Thread - 2016*

Well.. no big lap for me, but for some others. I dropped 4 more spots today, while going about the same speed. I seem to be the 'go to' guy for the good draft. I can PROVIDE them just fine, but can't seem to get one back that turns out OK. Every time I get one, I lose it to 'some other issue'. Oh we...

Re: *Official FV Runoffs Thread - 2016*

Better day today from the FCY standpoint, but the FP group before us splattered OIL from the entrance to the carousel all the way THROUGH T1 exit. The workers did a great job of trying to clean it up, but the dust from the oil dry was quite heavy for the first 3 laps. Tough to even see where we were...

Re: *Official FV Runoffs Thread - 2016*

FYI - we only had FIVE laps at speed today. One of the Hannum's (I think, Billy) hit the wall coming onto the front straight at the end of what I think was his first lap - bringing out 3 laps of FCY to move his car out of harms way. Only other contact I know of was between Dan Grace and myself at ma...

Find friends at Runoffs

FYI - For any of you that don't frequent Apexspeed, I asked Deanna if there was any way we could get access to the SCCA database of assigned parking spaces and she responded by posting a PDF file that is available to everyone. It is at the top of the Menu list on the right side of http://www.scca.co...

Re: Another vee that needs identified

Yes.. 03 is Atlanta and we have an email thread going internally to try to see if we can locate any info about this car. Most likely it has been lost since it was very early in the Log book process. Our Chief of Tech is going to try to get down to Atlanta (he lives 100 miles away from the office) to...

Re: Another vee that needs identified

I'm not very familiar with how the Predators were built, but I think this might be an early model Agitator, built by Jim Brookshire. Jim used to be on this forum years ago, but not recently. His son is active over on Apexspeed and MIGHT recognize it though he may be too young to remember it. IIRC Ji...

Re: Zink C4 restoration-the long term project

Nice looking restoration. Are those just transport tires, or are you ax'ing on those? If ax'ing, you really should try to find some SLICKS for it. You can probably pick up some from a road racer for little (or NO) cost and would make the car considerably faster on the course (in the right hands :mrg...

Re: Is this a Beach Forumla V ?

John, Looks pretty good. Glad you found the proper ID on it. As for the fan, MOST cars of that age are CONVERTED... from a fan to the outside scoops. There are a couple or 3 different sizes of fan housing. I'll bet that one of them will fit inside your existing bodywork after you remove the outer sc...

Re: Help identifying this Vee

The image references are encoded (not easily identified) within the board software. Don't worry about it - at least for now. I did find THIS (link below) that *MIGHT* have something to do with your car. Unfortunately, the original listing on eBay has apparently been deleted, but it does have some te...

Re: Help identifying this Vee

I just reduced the allowed file size from 3 MB to 2 MB (should be plenty) and raised the total board limit to 500 MB from 50. When I set all this up, I didn't have any idea how many pix might be uploaded or what impact it might have on the server, so I decided to keep it small until I had a handle o...

Re: Help identifying this Vee

There IS a default limit of picture uploads on this forum. I think it's 500 pictures .. or 500 megabytes or something. I'll see if I can figure it out. I might need to delete some of the older pix, but hard to decide which ones to wipe. You can always post them somewhere else on one of the photo sit...

Are you sure it's a Corvair engine? That would be a 6 cylinder. Pretty tight fit for the back of that car I would think.

Re: Help identifying this Vee

One thing we can say is that it is pretty OLD. There is something on the sides of the bodywork behind the roll bar .. might say "Indianapolis..." ? but can't quite read it. There are also several decals along the sides near the center that MIGHT indicate where might have participated in th...

I'm pretty sure that is the frame of the Enigma - designed and built by JR Russell of Roxannes Headers (Tampa area). Doubt that the cowl shown came with that frame. I'm not sure that JR ever actually completed the car. May have never been on the track at all. You might contact JR (JR@RoxannesHeaders...

Jason, If I'm not mistaken, you have the wheels mounted BACKWARDS to the hubs. The part that you have against the drums are the OUTSIDES of the wheels. You can see some pictures of how the original formcars were built at http://formcarregistry.com/Assembly%20Manual%2063.htm That might give you some ...
