Re: Carb Air Scoop?
Wow, I was just looking for an air scoop.
It all sounds good, but since the scoop I'm looking for is directly behind my helmet, the drag exists scoop or no scoop. I'd only be catching the residual, cooler air, flowing around my helmet and dumping it into the carb.

Re: Carb Air Scoop?
Wow this early in the morning, I feel like I'm back in school being lectured by a teacher :-) 2008 GCR "C.9.B The rear bodywork shall enclose the engine by surrounding it from a point no higher than the lower edge of the intake manifold and extending from the front of the engine to its rear on ...

Carb Air Scoop?
Does anyone have a good source of an air scoop for the carb intake of a formula vee? I've seen a few cars with one that is pop rivited to the top body just behind the drivers head which is low enough to stay within the rules.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Get ready for sticker shock... vintage vee tires are very expensive. A few vintage guys buy from them.... I'm still searching for a used set myself.

Re: To Seal or not to Seal??? (Axle Boots)
Thanks clubford!!!! All done... so those little washers are even harder to find when you're doing it in the dark with a spot light in the driveway! I was changing them because the boots had oil/grease on them, it was actually from holes on the tops of both boots. They sit real close to the header tu...

Re: Forever Leaking trans
I took a few pic's for you. My short box has a hole drilled and tapped on top of the transaxle. My long box has the typical vee method of venting the transaxle case by drilling and tapping a hole in the back of the case. Try and run the shortest length of hose to a catch can, use two cans if you hav...

Re: Parts to VIR
It may sound strange but the cheapest way to ship big fiberglass parts is via Greyhound bus. I shipped a 3 three piece fiberglass front clip of a 67 ford mustang and only covered it in bubble wrap (It arrived in perfect condition). It's not a door to door service, you'll have to drop them off and pi...

Re: Forever Leaking trans
Does your trans have a breather hose??? I've heard that with heavy loading of the boots along racing speeds a trans will build a lot of internal pressure and be prone to leaking without a breather hose. Also check that the hose is free from any kinks.

Rent a car for school!!!
I just want to give a great tip and a "plug" to all the other Novice guys on the forum going to SCCA school. I just got back from the SCCA 2 day school at New Hampshire International Speedway this weekend. I already have a good car that is race ready, but a few of the Vee guys I know, said...

Re: Beach 5c restoration. Where to start?
I'd buy a copy of Schings book first, it has tons of Vee info and is a great start. http://www.sracing.com/Store/FV_Stuff/fv_book.htm Dietmar is right, make a list of the parts you'll need... but I'd try and include prices so you know from the start what kind of budget you are looking at to complete...

Re: Beach 5c frame
When I was referring to bringing a car up to current SCCA spec's, I’m purely speaking from a safety aspect. KEEP IT VINTAGE!!! The SCCA has put many of the bar rules in effect to protect the drivers. At a minimum I would be sure the roll bar is above your helmet (the minimun safe distance is 2†...

Re: Beach 5c frame
I just finished updating an Autodynamics frame to current SCCA spec's. It took a lot of planning since I wanted to use all the Vintage body work so the car could still run vintage classes. The new frame is much safer and all the body work fits with a few modifications for the rear roll bar & sup...

Re: Max RPM on straight
Since you say the motor pulls to 6500 rpm in the lower gears, and you say you can't get over 5000 in the higher gears... it might be in your gears/transaxle. You might also want to consider checking your wheel bearings.

Re: WANTED: protoform steering wheel
Baringer Motorsports, made me a custom wheel. It measures just under 9 inches across 6 1/2 inches top to bottom. It fits my hands perfectly ! They might be able to make you a custom wheel.

Re: Autodynamics vee? Help needed
Hi, Check out the link below. A Grassroots Motorsports reader did a restore of a 64 Autodynamics and it looks very similar to yours. But as Bob said, and you can see in a few of the frame pics, the top rear frame is parallel to the bottom on a 64. Many of these cars have either seen a lot of race re...

Thanks for the info, what kind of torch can you use?
It's a stock manifold, with a little porting.
Butane - Propane - MAPP - Acetylene
4,925----- 4,579----5,301---- 5,589-------Flame Temperature in Oxygen (°F)

I've been in advertising/marketing for over 25 years, I think all of the ideas posted are great. I love the Formula Vee Interchange, it has been a great source of information for many if not all of us. But, we ready need our own web site. I love Formula Vee's, so this is in no way promoting another ...
