If you're going to play, play big. Re: Trailer for sale

FYI. In case you don't sell the trailer and could use it. Registering a Homemade Trailer If you're interested in registering a homemade trailer, the first step is to contact your local Louisiana State Police Troop to arrange for an inspection. After the inspection, the trooper will issue a vehicle i...

Re: Intro:

Yeah, what Nick said. Welcome aboard. Nick's pointer about finding someone to help should be everyone's first step in FV. A veteran can help you make your car reliable or at the very least, determine that it already might be. Starting and finishing races is much more important than being concerned a...

Re: Head and Neck Restraints

Flat, It's not as simple as that. For years formula cars ran without roll bars, and then for many more years, ran with skinny roll bars that were far below the level of the driver's head. How many drivers today would want to race without a roll bar? Would you race without a fire resistant suit? Safe...

TV Runoffs

I don't have Speed Channel.

Does anyone have the ability to download the run-offs to a DVD?

I'll gladly pay expenses.

Thanks.

Re: Runoffs practice tickler

Stevan, You're right. I worded it incorrectly. Are there any drivers that "might consider" using our vintage weekend for track time? No commitment necessary right now. Is it a good idea, or bad idea, and why? Comments made in other forums stated that racers are racers and there will be no ...

Re: Runoffs practice tickler

Okaaaaaaay,,, a bit high-jacked. So, I'll ask the question, are there any Current Spec. Vee drivers out there that would like to join us the weekend prior to Runoffs testing? Yes, you will be asked to run your car within the "Vintage" mind set. Does that mean drive slowly? No. Just that dr...

Runoffs practice tickler

Addressing all drivers anticipating attending next year's Runoffs at Road America. I hear that the first couple of practice days will cost a driver $1200/day with a cap of 40 cars allowed. Youch. I think the price goes down to $1000/day with a cap of 50 cars after a couple of days. This information ...

Re: 1993 Predator

Welcome Steven, Reading your post brought me back a bunch of years. My dad and mom both raced vees. They bought their first when I was 8 years old, and I wrenched on them until they quit racing when they had four kids in college. OK, enough of the flashback. I think you should get in touch with a ve...

Re: ROAD AMERICA ROOMS AND RESTURANTS

I would suggest finding out how much the track will charge for camping, prior to arriving, so there are no surprises.
During a vintage race, the BRIC, which is now called the KIC, I had to pay $50 a night for a three day race weekend.
Yup, $150 for the privilege camp.

Re: erratic engine

I had a race at Lime Rock in my FF, when the car started easily and would run fine on the track except around corners.
We chased fuel feed and ignition problems.

It turned out to be a battery that was short circuiting under load. After we changed the battery, it ran like the Energizer Bunny.

Dutch,

It would help with what responses you might get if you let us know what organization you run with, and with what rules.

Where are you located? Need everything or will a roller suffice?

Thanks.

Howden communications should be proud of the job done with FCM.

Chris,

I think there is more than enough data from series that have used spec tires to be able to make an informed decision.
That includes the use of "street" tires too!

Re: Maybe NASCAR should turn the 400 over to FV's

Deja Vu?

Seems Indy is proud to be the venue for two of the worst races ever.
Lets not forget only half a GP field racing because the tires for the other half of the field were deemed unsafe.

Maybe the Grand Prix should have been run 10 laps at a time too......

Re: Low turnouts

For the life of me I can't figure why anybody would seriously suggest rule changes that slow us down, like adding weight or going to hard compound tires. The idea of racing is to go fast. If we have to spend money to modify our cars, at least have them be faster as a result! If you change the rules...

Two laps in a BMW with David Brahbam at the wheel. http://www.ashcom.homestead.com/LRP_Brabham.wmv I was under the impression a club could use the traditional LRP layout. Maybe construction isn't quite done yet, but it looks to me like West Bend is a permanent chicane. Hard to tell on the video, but...

Surely you are not saying the Ringwraith first raced in 1972. Here is a result sheet from 1969: http://www.virhistory.com/vir/69-apr/69-apr-res.html It may have been presented to tech with a log book for the first time in 1972. The current owner of the Shadowfax and Ringwraith, did a tremendous amou...

Don't mean to step on your toes Steve, but... The very first FV with a Zero Roll Resistance rear suspension, was Harvey's Ringwraith. He couldn't get it to work like he wanted, so Harvey then built the Shadowfax. Jeff Carlin got the Ringwraith to work quite well. For many years, he and Harvey ...
