Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
In which case i suppose i have no issues with going to a spec manifold or restrictor plate. I know policing the restrictor plate would be simple, but how would you police a spec manifold? It would seem like it would be far more difficult than checking for a specially colored plate between the carb a...

I've also seen those flexible coils used for screw driving with power tools used to great success. If you find one that works, the best part is it'll never get sloppy

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
True. Why not just write in the rules that you are not allowed to expand the manifold? We'd go back to where we were a few years ago, and I'm sure most people have at least one stock manifold lying around that they could use effectively. I know i only sent out my B-manifold to get blown out because ...

Re: Formula Vee Meeting during the Runoffs
I can tell you who wouldn't be interested in spec manifolds. everyone who went out and bought one of those $1500 manifolds, me inclusive actually. I'd be okay with a restrictor plate, but not a spec manifold. I'm sure everyone who bought those new manifolds to keep up with everyone else feels the sa...

He has an underside longitudinal shock setup, this lets him close off the bodywork so that he has better aerodynamics. the downside is from what i understand is it's complex and the parts required are vulnerable and expensive compared to a standard setup. Alternatively, John Caffery's old Protoform ...

Re: runoffs live coverage from speedcast
yes, it was very good coverage, it would certainly have been nice to have had replays available in some cases as alot of the times you could have been showing highlights or the like during the FC's long black flag period. I was busy working on the car and missed the incident, so it would have been n...

Re: Favorite Vee?
We all have the same hefty disadvantage though. Try as we might, every last car still has those front beams punching a sizable hole in the air for someone to catch a draft from. I would imagine the only real difference between any cars is their handling characteristics and how well they can cope wit...

Out of curiousity, what would need to be done to waive points in a given race? Would you still be able to keep your finishing position but allow those behind you to accrue the points they would have gotten assuming you didn't keep your finishing position?

they're also relatively narrow for how large a person you can fit in them, which i imagine helps out too. But yeah, the big one is the fast guys all have them.

Re: Favorite Vee?
well, the reasoning for the vortech is simple. they're the ones that keep winning... Protoforms fill up the grid because they handle well and are safe, not to mention they're very common. they're the modern day D13 with regards to how many of them are out there.

Re: Nationals
chassis lowering is also plenty doable. but it requires alot of bodywork to do so. if you're lightening anyways, i'd go for lowering the chassis (raising the beam and engine/trans) and a CF single layer body... depending on how much you want to spend, you could actually go hog-wild with exotic mater...

No, Tony didn't hit me. I made a rookie mistake and rolled out of the throttle a tad too much when I felt I was coming up on Dennis too quickly. That snap spun the car and I actually took Tony's valve stem out with my nose en route up the track. I slid up instead of down because I put both feet in, ...

I think part of the other reason the Canadian 1200's get so many competitors is that it's still considered a feeder class for moving up to semi-pro and pro rides. Correct me if I'm wrong about that Greg. Personally I'd be up for seeing if we can't run pro-vee style races as support series when big b...

Re: Losing Power...
Vapor lock is resolved by replacing the fuel pump with one you know works. (Dave Carr's remedy) I'd also check to make sure you don't have any downward bends in your fuel line where air could get trapped. That's all I can think of to resolve it.

Re: Losing Power...
Perhaps check for vapor lock in the fuel pump? It would kinda make sense that you're losing all your fuel in the left hander and then don't have any left in the bowl to accelerate away with. Seems like it would be a long-shot but it could be possible... I had a similar issue at NJMP where I spun and...

True, that was one aggressive start he had to make those positions back up. But at the same time he did have an off-course excursion in the process.

Re: Tires?
I have a hard time believing ANYONE spends 60-70% of their budget on tires. Entry fees alone cost nearly as much as a set of tires for a double weekend at many tracks. Add to that hotel, gas, tow vehicle expenses, engine rebuilds, etc. and I am sorry, but tires are a drop in the bucket. A national ...
