Re: Goodbye National Racing
I actually think it is likely a good thing overall. It should make less races, but higher profile with fewer classes to deal with.
I think it is a kind of back door way in to reduce the number of classes without eliminating classes at the regional level.

Dave,
I can assure you they are not. It is clear this was carefully considered during the design of these parts.

...The vee committee, like other classes have, is a bit less official and aids the CRB committees in gathering info. Brian, HOW did the other "more official" committees get established? .. and WHY? It is quite obvious why they are needed... but why did SCCA establish them? Was it an outcr...

Greg, You are always calling for innovative ideas for growth. Get out from behind the keyboard and do something. Instead of insulting those of us who have a different feeling than you, try starting a revolution. Come up with your own ideas to solve problems and lead. Stop with the insults and blame ...

Re: Wheel cover ban
It is worth mentioning that FV National Racing grew by 11% last year according to the published SCCA participation numbers. That's better than the overall average of 7% across the board. Maybe we're doing something right afterall. Can't speak to regional numbers as those are not posted on the SCCA w...

Re: Wheel cover ban
I don't know how the Wheel cover issue got hijacked into manifolds. I don't thonk Mike K ever charged $1000 for one but retailers are free to take whatever markup they want. In 1983 Ray Caldwell told me that he thought the sucess of FV eas in part due to the fact that it allowed inovation but at a ...

BTW ...... Mike K, as any of the manifold makers, was quite capable of making monster mannies before there was such a scam. He chose not to. He was servicing the FV community, not screwing it! That's funny. I understand the going rate for a Monster Mannie was around $1000-1200. Two weeks before tha...

Re: Wheel cover ban
Mike, Please understand, I meant no disrespect towards you with that. I'm not saying you had anything to do with making them illegal. My statement was more to make a point that there is an established group of folks in the class who seem to be celebrated for their innovation. Greats like Bill Noble,...

Re: Wheel cover ban
Why ban wheel covers? We haven't banned $1200 manifolds, $700 tires (wheel covers last significantly longer than tires), $1200 exhaust systems, or $2500 data systems. Why is it that when someone outside the traditional FV inner-circle comes up with an innovation people scream and want to ban it? I s...
