Re: Parts for sale--getting out of racing

Edited list to reflect parts already spoken for. Best way to reach me is email, so I've removed my phone number. If you've left me a message and I haven't gotten back to you, send me an email--my voicemails aren't always reaching me. I'm going through the toolboxes and trailer this weekend, so I'll ...

2001 Caracal D

SOLD - 1969 Warrior FV

For Sale 1969 Warrior FV See http://www.formulavee.org/interchange/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2135 for details. We bought the car and all spares from the older couple that bought Bill's house. This car is just how Bill left it because we don’t really have a desire to do vintage racing and we bought the...

Re: Exhaust Length

Exhaust must terminate 1"-3" beyond the bodywork. Correct me if I'm wrong (which is highly possible), but I believe this rule has been removed from the most current version of the GCR. In any case, I belive the original poster was not looking for a "rule" but more the ideal leng...

brake bedding

I recently ordered Carbotech brakes and haven’t had a chance to install until today—I’ve got a race this weekend and I’m wondering if since I won’t really have a chance to bed the brakes properly, if I’d be better off leaving the stock shoes on for this weekend and waiting until I have a chance to b...

Re: Help about intake debate for us novices

This may be a dumb question and slightly off topic--I'm assuming there's a point to where the carb becomes the restricting factor instead of the manifold in the equation. Have we gotten there, are we close, or anywhere in the ballpark? I am pretty much clueless about the carb; if there's a problem, ...

Mike,
I don't live too terribly far away from you and have raced with Bill a number of times--send me a PM and if you want, we can get together to get you racing or just to help you figure out what everything is.

Re: VW Hub Caps

This may be a dumb question, but isn't the majority of drag from the wheels due to the frontal area and therefore the aero effect of smooth wheels on a FV at our slow speed would be negligible?

Re: Aftermarket shock mounting

I priced some metric 12.9 bolts at the hardware store at over $3 each! Not to hijack the thread, but an alternative to paying high prices for metric hardware is a company called Fastenal. I am slightly biased since I work there, but I'd be willing to bet that they're cheaper than where you're going...

Run-offs camping

Since the run-offs hotel rooms topic was brought up I thought I would ask a similar question--I plan on staying at track during the runoffs and was wondering if anyone had information about the availability of electricity or shower facilities at RA. Also, this is my first runoffs so I'm not entirely...

Welcome to the vee family! Not sure how far you gotten, but IMO the best way to get ahead is to find someone in your area that drives a vee and make friends. If you share your location, I'm sure there will be folks that would be more than willing to help. Good luck and hope to see you at the track! ...

Re: Runoff Fuel Testing

The resulting control mixture could be tested for marker concentration before dispensing I don't think this would work very well--you can't assume that the fuel would be well-mixed during the test nor could you assume that it stay well-mixed, if it ever were, during the whole event. However, I saw ...

B-day party write-up in Straightpipe

For those that are interested, there is a great write-up of the event in this month's Straightpipe (Washington D.C. Region's newsletter) written by Anna Qualls.
