Re: Clutch lever

Sometimes the circlip groove is very warn or the clip your using has seen better days and they'll pop off during a race. Many transaxles I've used have had a small hole drilled through the lever and the shaft with a nut and bolt added for safety. In a pinch at a track a few tack welds from a mig wil...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs

If FV changed to the VW disk brake beam, wouldn't that also mean everyone switching to a different rim? Except for the aftermarket stuff, I'm not sure VW made a disk brake rotor for the 5 wide rims?

Re: November minutes

I agree to leave the FV class alone, all you'll do is cost everyone more money and lose racers in the long run. If the supply is getting short for Link Pin beams, just change the rules to accept aftermarket ones. They've been building them for years for off-road use. Brand new center for $195! and w...

Re: clutch not holding pressure

Check for leaks, if none exit. It could be a bad slave cylinder. I had a similar problem when my clutch slave cylinder went bad a few years back. Fluid was leaking past the seal and would build up back pressure. In the attached picture, unscrew the shaft on the non boot side of the slave, if you fin...

D-13 Vintage?

Hi, I'm selling my D-13 and I've received a few questions about vintage racing it. I have no real history on the car, I only have the log book that was issued 7/78. I've read in this forum that the D-13 qualifies for the VRG group, any others??? Thanks for any feed back. http://farm8.staticflickr.co...

I'm selling my Caldwell D-13 formula vee, great car with great bright red paint (Porsche red)! Car is being sold as a roller since the motor in it needs a rebuild. Re: Help need identifing a old FV

Also post it under other classes, it's a Solo Vee, someone in the Solo area might know the car. It has a 1600 engine in it, FV uses a 1200. FM was/is one of the SCCA solo racing classes. Based on the set up it was raced a number of years ago. Althought not currently legal in SCCA Formula vee, Solo V...

Re: Head & neck restraint systems

John, if that crash was a few years ago at NHMS in the rain, your comment "I was slammed into a wall hard" is an understatement you were "pushed hard " by someone trying to win the race on the first lap in the RAIN. I had a birds eye view from several car lengths back. The Hans d...

If you want to be uncomfortable and have zero side crash protection, buy a Hans. If you also want good side crash protection and comfort buy a Simpson Hybrid Pro Rage. With a Hans you're locked into a seating position, with the Simpson products they can be adjusted to different seating positions. On...

Re: Mono shock zero roll for D-13

I've work with one of Ed's zero roll on my old Womer, it bolt's up to the engine (hard to see the engine bolts) and trans so you do not need to weld any brackets to the chassis. I have a D-13 now and the push rods mounts are real similar to the Womers also (top right corner of picture) http://farm7....
