2021 SCCA Super Tour/Majors Results -No specific event

Alex, I thought about creating a new category just for result, but realized that THIS category is pretty much already THAT. I just tested to be certain ... you CAN change/modify the Subject line for each new post. SO.. stay in the same thread, but put the 'subject' of your results post in the subjec...

Re: 2021 SCCA Super Tour & Majors Results Thread

Good idea Alex. The results from Sebring are also available. And I should mention that new 'SPEC TIRE' LAP RECORDS were set during the Sunday races of both Homestead and Sebring. National HQ refuses to recognize FV Spec Tire lap records, but *I* am tracking them as best I can with some help from Gra...

Re: HOOSIER CHANGES FV TIRE CONTINGENCY RULES!!

I'm not certain but there was nothing in the letter that I received from Hoosier that specifically mentioned the Formula Vee class, just contingency tires. Therefore, good chance it applies to all classes.

HOOSIER CHANGES FV TIRE CONTINGENCY RULES!!

OK, fans.. seems that Hoosier has DECLARED that the new FVS tire is ONLY GOOD FOR TWO RACES!! The latest scoop - as sent to registrants for the 2021 season follows... Looking at the Rev date at the bottom, this decision was made THE DAY BEFORE the Sebring HST weekend. -------------------------------...

This car has been sold again. Hopefully, we'll see it on the track in SEDIV this year.

Lynx B copy - nice car for sale - includes light open trailer

Please see below link for pictures and thread about this car. https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?88739-FS-Lynx-B-FV&p=618343#post618343 The guy that bought this car has decided that he is NOT nearly as interested in 'real racing' as he thought he was. So... without ever putting it on a ...

Re: Caracal c frame cracking

Quickly said.. CRACKS IN THE FRAME ARE **NOT** NORMAL :P . Your picture is too 'tight' to show really WHERE The crack is located, but it's safe to say it definitely needs to be fixed .. and soon. Right now you have a repairable issue, but it could quickly develop into something MUCH more serious .. ...

Formula Vee 60th Anniversary

Well, friends.. it goes on... FV will be SIXTY years old in 2023 (at least SCCA wise). Discussions are in the EARLY stages at this point, started by Butch Deer. We want to make this one a 'jim dandy' birthday, so open up your brains and let's get some discussion going. We'd like to FOCUS on a single...

Fallen friends

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Jim Averett on Nov 6, 2020. Past FV, SRF and FC racer as well as a fine steward for SCCA. Jim was Chief Steward for the Runoffs in past years and this year was present as a member of the SOM Appeals board. Jim raced in FV in the 80's and finished...

Re: Discs AGAIN

From the SCCA GCR - Appendix F. It is INTERESTING that it does NOT address toe-in, or camber.. ...

Get out there and DO IT!!

This article is about the NEFV group that has had such great success in getting new members into FV. It's about Paul Faford and the founding efforts of the OPDE in New England. Racer.com did a nice job on it In addition to that, there are TWO articles in this month's SCCA Magazine. I'm going to the ...

Re: Early Zink Chassis - Make offer

Mark, You might have better luck if you post a price and a little more info about the car. Do you have a LOGBOOK for the car? Any history of it? What year is it? Does it have a roll bar stamp? Any idea who owned it originally? If it was a 'project', what were your original plans for it? You are show...

Re: Transmission oil

Robert, That is definitely TRUE.. However, IMHO the gain provided is NOT enough to warrant putting anything into your gearbox other than good ole TRANSAXLE FLUID.. as in Joe Gibbs Trans racing synthetic 75w or similar. I DO recommend SYNTHETIC fluid, but the really light stuff (IMHO) just adds more ...

Re: Steve's Runoff's 2019

Brian, I'd say this year's event pretty much SUCKED for me - 99.9% because of the T1 crash that took my car out of play and is going to cost me an additional chunk of $$$ to repair beyond the $$$ that it cost to register and buy a test day and paddock spot... and, of course the towing costs to get t...

Free play on Clutch Slave Cylinder changing?

Hey guys. Although I've been racing FV for over FORTY YEARS, I've never before used a clutch master/slave setup.. always used a CABLE. Now I have a car with a master/slave setup and after each session the free play is changing. After my first test day, I changed the slave cylinder to a brand new one...

Re: What type of formula car?

Brian, I think you are expecting too much from a car that was raced in 1973. That was before the internet and copious 'interswapping' of ideas via forums and facebook and even pictures. I'd guess that, yes, this is the way the car was raced although I'm not certain that Phillip has indeed proven tha...

Looks like you found yourself a nice little piece of HISTORY there, Phillip. If you aren't already aware, there is a site specific to FSV at https://www.formulasupervee.com/ . Perhaps you could find some more input over there. The guy that started that site seems to be really interested and probably...

Re: What type of formula car?

Looks like DRUM brakes on the rear and DISC brakes on the front. However, I still have no idea if that's the way the early FSV's came. THIS one certainly looks like it was put together well though. That's a LOT of rivets on the tub. The 'v' in the rear saddle mount looks to be a bit sharp to me as c...
