Re: Alternate tire/wheel for FV?

Brian I think the problem is your suggestion makes to much sense. No need to change wheels, they all ready said the could make run of them for testing, cuts tire cost and we would still get a proper "racing" tire. One of the greatest things about FV is the feel and handling of these cars a...

Re: Open Wheel track records

Steve LRP has a track record for Club Formula Vee I'm not sure the year or how to find the info but I know this because it was done in my old D13  I think it was in the early 90s and driver was Matt Sclarz (I think that's how to spell his last name) I remember seeing the record posted on th...

Re: Alternate tire/wheel for FV?

Because most people all ready own 12 and in some cases 34 I certainly understand that. The problem as I see it, the DOT tires available for a 4" width wheel are not going to work very well. As far as I know you could already run any tire on the standard VW wheel as long as it is not a radial s...

Re: Alternate tire/wheel for FV?

3) Can use present steel wheels Matt, just curious, why the desire to use the current wheels? With the 4" width, a DOT radial will be very narrow and the difference in slicks and the wider DOT tires on a 5.5" width rim will be much greater. Plus, for a reasonable price you get straight, g...

Re: Alternate tire/wheel for FV?

I like the idea of allowing it as a alternative. I'm sure if I wanted to I could put Falken's on my car and ran locally anyway but officially allowing it may help it gain some traction and get a few different sets in front of people to help them come up with their own opinion on the topic. I think ...

Re: Brake shoes

I know of at least 4 cars including mine will zero problems with them. Work like a charm and stop as good if not better than the CT over priced shoes. Make sure the adjuster is in all the way and the adjust spring is not holding it out. The shoes should also take angled adjusters I do not think the ...

Re: Brake shoes

Their web site leaves a lot to be desired and does not list the vee shoes. A call to them will suffice but make sure you get the race compound, R4D. I paid $119 for each axle. $238 for all four wheels. It may not hurt to let them know if your drums have been turned before and try never to use new s...

Re: Brake shoes

CTs are availible at a premium of $185 per axle and are not the same as old compound KFP is no longer a option I was in contact with Kieth from Racing Stuff and he did all he could to make the KFP FV shoes happen again but never got there so I tried the Porterfields and was very happy. KFPs would ha...

Re: More tire info...

I talked to Hoosier at Sebring and they ARE "on the program" for FV for 2014. They are also listed in the SCCA contingency list now. From what I've heard, VW will NOT be participating in FV this year. Brian - VW paid out quite a bit of dollars last year to classes other than FV. In fact, ...

Barry I understand exactly what your saying and for the most part I agree with you. Just the FST has no problems part I'm having trouble with. Maybe I'm misinformed and have received incorrect information.

Re: Going FST vs FV Racing

How quick are you compared to the 4 fast FSTs? This will determine your cost. I love how everyone keeps talking about how inexpensive FST cars are but everytime I look at a results sheet there is 3 maybe 4 lead cars that are 2 sec a lap faster than the rest that are back with FVs with 30hp less, why...

I don't think it's the case but I could be wrong. When at normal temps meaning engine warm and oil temp at 170+ looking at my date the pressure is perfect. As long as the oil gets warm there seems to be no problems.

Well during the warmer weather it is high but not like it was when it was chilly. I just have to remember to get the engine up to at least 100 deg before any real rpms are reached. I'm was still running 10W30 and my season is over now.

Re: Porterfield brake shoes

Were you able to get the R4s to work and stop the car? I tested them and had no luck stopping the car and pedal pressure was crazy high same problem for another Fv driver that's local. We both then tested the RD4s and I believe they are better than the Carbotechs and seem to be pretty easy on drums.
