Brian;
The intention was for VW 4 bolt wheels to be used. The omission was mine and as Dietmar correctly stated will be corrected.

Re: Polishing and REM treatments for Trannies
IMO simply looking through the fill hole of a transmission will not necessarily provide information that would or could lead to technical enforcement. We could have/should have applied your same reasoning to the offset link pins bushings we are using and alternate front shock mounts. We used them fo...

Re: Polishing and REM treatments for Trannies
There's been some rumors about folks having the REM polishing treatment or manual polishing done to their vee transmissions. It has long been held that since this modification is specifically not spelled out, per C.1.B. paragraphs 2 & 3, that it was illegal. How about an opinion? Brian, We disc...

There is nothing preventing getting more sets of Kolbenschmidt p & c sets ordered. Although I have not spoken with them since the last order I'm sure they are will be make more. We simply have to organize a group willing to put money up to place an order. Price will be dependant on the dollar to...

Re: Needle Bearing Front Beam Spacers
I would take the position that the link pin bolts are fasteners.Would not the link pin be a link pin .... the same way that a connecting rod is a connecting rod ? Being a rod or pin does not make them fasteners. We can change the fasteners in the connecting rod and the bearings in the connecting ro...

Re: Discounted Hoosiers
Keep in mind these are the R55 compund, not the 55A. The 55A is what everyone has been using for the past 2 years, so any fronts you bought recently would not match. But for general seat time and / or learning a new track, they would be fine. So what is the difference between 55A and R55? Personall...

Re: Discounted Hoosiers
I was curious, anyone ever try these short rears on all 4 corners? They are technically wide fronts, I'm just wondering what the result was if they have been tried. Doug I have run this combination more than a few times. Basically you give up some grip in the back end for more appropiate gearing. Y...

Steve, I appreciate your response and your attitude in this matter. Obviously, rules are put in place for a reason. Having said that, I feel other factors are involved, such as availability, cost, and if any change such as using the narrower grooves as are,or opening them to the original dimension ...

Re: June Meeting
Mike; It seems to me that the rules as written for FV pistons is quite vague. You can use or have made (in my opinion) any piston you want as long as certain dimensions are upheld. That includes ring land measurements, particularly in relation to the wrist pin as that is really the only constant we ...

Re: April Fastrack--Oil Sumps
A request came into the club to allow an alternate means of fastening the oil sump the the engine. The means was not specified. My comment was that I didn't see the need. I stated my belief that if we were to change that part of the rules with regard to oil sumps, that I would just as well see FV ad...

Re: Need more input on the FV manifold rules
This is quite simple really, beyond the accusations and recriminations that I believe unfounded. Several requests came from outside the committee to address what seemed to be un-intended loopholes in the intake rules. So the committee came up with something and published it for all the FV community ...

Jim's points are valid and we're not the only engine that shares lobes. That said, oil discussions are like talking about beauty in the world. I would recommend Shell Rotella 15/40. Yes I know it's made for compression ignition engines but thats why it still has significant levels of zinc and boron. It's available cheaply at Costco, Walmart or any truck stop.

Re: New manifold rules in GCR
Guys, some excellent points. I think we need to address in letters those issues with the new rules where a standard non-vee-literate tech guy can't misinterpret them. The rule about a manifold having to weight 24 oz. before repair is honorable for fairness, but simply unenforceable. That one simply...

Re: New manifold rules in GCR
Just a thought, is it a possibility that the excess bronze is there to bring it up to the min weight, because of material removed from the inside? an illeagle manifold, thinned out so much that weight had to be added to get the 24 oz? just a thought. THOR That is exactly why the 24 oz weight was es...

Re: November meeting
I received a copy of the proposal and agree it seems rather benign. One issue regarding the visablity of the vw casting marks in the flanges. Sometimes the holes are enlarged to compensate for engine widths and that can obliterate the logo. I'd hate to see a perfectly good manifold be considered il...
