Re: 2014 Run-offs

Once upon a time, long, long ago there was an organization called Formula Vee International. They published a great newsletter. One of the most interesting parts of their newsletters was detailed reports about the results of protests. It was educational, emphasizing what you could and could not do a...

Re: Womer FV's

Jeremy,
I will be at the Jefferson Circuit next weekend. I would like to look at the cars (and try one on). Will you or a rep be available to show them to me Friday or Saturday (at lunch or early evening)? Regards from Thor.

Re: Jefferson track at Summit Point

Vee competition in the PHA events is VERY close. Joe, once again in a final run effort, knocked me out of first place by .046 seconds. He is one point away from the championship for the season and there is one event left (Weatherly), which should be pretty exciting. Having fun! John Pitman aka Olden...

ACME's owner purchased Thor's Brazos FV. It is now in red/yellow livery and was recently driven by Dave Smith at Beaver Run. John Mickle, the owner of ACME, gathered a first rate team of engine &* transmission guys and is doing well supporting the air cooled VW community as well as building kit ...

Re: reverse lock-out

I have what I think is the best lock out designed. I will send photos to those who ask, since I haven't figured out how to post a photo here. Essentially it is attached to the nose piece and has a sliding rod through it (controlled from the drivers seat) that blocks rotation of the shaft to prevent ...

Re: Weatherly Hillclimb

Joe did a helluva job, steadily cutting time through heat of Sunday afternoon, and on the very last run, knocked me out of first by .032 sec. GOOD JOB JOE!! It will be a fun, challenging season for FV on the hills. It was a great event this year with 11 or 12 timed (I cannot remember...heat and agin...

Re: drum to drum tranny and engine storage rack

I have a fiberglass engine shipping crate. It is tall and will accomodate a vintage engine with cooling shrouds. Since I am within a couple of hours of Autowerks, I deliver and pick up my engine in the trunk of my Passat. I have used the base of the container to keep the engine stable while hauling ...

Re: WANTED: relatively inexpensive car near TX

How tall, and how heavy is the proposed driver? I know of a great car in Florida, but it is bit tight. It is my son's (Thor) Brazos. Meeting part way for a test fit may be possible.

Re: Air compressor & generators

He sure does use a scuba tank. I topped up my tires with it at Roebling last Spring. As far as pressure and filling sites other than a dive shop, I know very little. I carry a small (2 gal) 12v compressor designed for a nail gun. Doesn't last real long, but the generator on the RV allows me to top i...

Re: Steering box location

At 6'3" and too heavy, that steering box location is the only way I can comfortably fit in a FV. I drive an early Vector (GB2) and I fit very nicely in a Womer as well. I do, however, have the steering box padded in case of a sudden lateral stop. Yes, with "both feet in," there should...

Re: Where do you test a new car?

Getting a Time Trial Novice Permit is not that difficult. Download the forms. Fill out the application and a SELF medical evaluation and with the proper fee send it to the SCCA. You will be issued a Time Trial Novice Permit. Successfully run three TTs, get a real physical by an MD, and apply for a T...

However, even with the ability to rotate the starter so the solenoid is at a different position, they will not fit all Vees. My early Vector (GB2) is an example.

RE: Reverse lockout. I run a Vector FV (GCR rules) in the Pa Hill Climb series where shifts from 3rd to 2nd are critical. Ken Taggert Engineering made a reverse lockout for me that is perfec t. It mounts on the shaft at the end of the transmission. IT is actuated from the driver's seat via a control...
