Re: Spec Tires

Greg, As much as I share your passion for a "spec tire" and appreciate your efforts to get it considered, I was really disappointed by the way our, meaning the FV class in general had their survey responded to by the board. Many people (+200) responded to the survey, either for or against ...

Re: Spec Tires

Brian, I agree with your post and will wait to hear what you gathered from tonight's conference call. As Jim mentioned, their decision seemed fairly quick and I wondered to what degree they placed any significance on the survey that was responded to by several hundred members? Also, there is a reque...

Re: Spec Tires

Greg, What's the point of the survey if it's going to be rejected by the Board? There was a good response that represented many, but not all of the driver's (impossible to do), and yet they rejected our thoughts and response that was approved by 70% of the reponders! I'm smell a rat and wonder who i...

Re: VDF vs. Citation?

Larry,

You're correct about the bellcranks, once I went to the solid cranks we had no further problems.
Thanks!

Re: VDF vs. Citation?

Russ, I've owned a Citation (95') and really enjoyed driving it. I did get tired of f-ing around with the bellcranks and having them crack, but that was a minor issue etc... I'd go with the VDF if you fit and can get one at a reasonable price because there aren't many of them and you might gain an &...

How big are you? I tried to sit in Rick Shields several years ago and couldn't come close. Good luck in your endeavor!

Scott:

Is that two seconds slower than the R55's or R45's you mentioned as National tires etc?

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Scott,

I heard the AR's were about 1 second per lap slower than the comparable Hoosier's and GY's? Any truth to
this and how many heat cycles are you getting before the tires aren't competitive any longer?

Thanks!

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Matt: You're correct about the gas situation, and I'm afraid it's heading above $4.00 per gal. based on the news reports. That along with other issue's will prevent additional drivers from racing as much as they would prefer. I'm spoiled because I have 3 tracks within 90 miles of my home (Nelson, M-...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

That being said, what are the possible changes you feel will improve the class and get more participation from those drivers who've parked their ...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

But those 22% were possibly influenced by the pom-pom negative naysayers? There's NO more conclusive evidence to say those who
sided against the issue in question we're any MORE knowledgeable than those who sided for it.

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

I assume we should go to the manufacturers and request a tire that lasts (1) heat cycle if the fields were that good back in the 90's as a result of those tires? I fail to see how things can get worse than today with $600 for a set of tires that last 6 competitive heat cycles, and participation fall...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Bruce,

Facts as YOU see it.......The facts are that 77% voted in favor of the "spec-tire", and you can spin it how you want but those are the REAL facts as 77% see it!

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Greg, Don't let Bruce's post cause everyone to focus on the legitmacy of the survey even though 252 people responded to it without being under duress, but rather move ahead with the "spec-tire" as the majority (77%) clearly responded in favor of it. The arguement for or against was made on...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Jim, There's over 250 replies to the survey and I'm not sure additional responses would change the % in either direction to a great extent. The group seeking the responses did their best to make it available to everyone and if your clients aren't on either website, then maybe they need to join one o...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Craig, The only thing I would add is that the question responded to was "tire designed to last 12-15 heat cycles with little grip degradation, rubber to last 20 heat cycles"... otherwise, you pretty much summed it up. I don't feel the R55 fits that model, but you're correct with the R60 gr...
