Re: Let's fold FST into FV

Thank you for the comments, sharplikestump. Yes, my presumption that a simple restrictor adjustment would be enough to achieve an acceptable level of parity was incorrect, but I am confident this conversation is still worth having. After all, I recently purchased an FV and I want to make sure the cl...

Re: Let's fold FST into FV

Hi Jim, Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, as well as correcting my misconception. And I apologize for misspelling your name. 8) I have already heard over on ApexSpeed that the restrictor alone won't do it, so maybe it will take short boxes (or not), a weight adjustment and possibly othe...

Let's fold FST into FV

I finally bit the bullet and sent this letter to the CRB. With the CSR/DSR/S2 merger into P1 and P2, and the proposed merger of F5 and F6, I request you merge FST into FV effective 1 January 2015. Formula Vee participation has been fairly stable in recent years, but in my opinion FST's growth has be...

Re: Brakes - drums -> discs

I bought a complete disc-to-disc ball joint beam this past weekend, with which I'm planning to build a VSR. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I'm guessing it's heavier than a drum brake setup.

Re: Max HP from a 1915cc Solo Vee motor?

My goals have shifted somewhat since I started this thread. As some of you may know I am a long time sports racer guy in addition to formula cars, and have been fortunate enough to have my cars win the Runoffs in both FA and CSR. Anyway, in discussions with others the suggestion has come up to write...

Re: Max HP from a 1915cc Solo Vee motor?

Sounds pretty close. We have a 1915 on the dyno as we speak. Scat cam similar to a mild street cam or W-110, same heads, dual Web 40's. (straight up cam timing). CR=~8:1. Getting 124 at ~5000 RPM. (Engine dyno) Probably 115+ on an engine dyno with a typical Vee drive train . Jim, did you mean "...

Re: Max HP from a 1915cc Solo Vee motor?

Thanks Jim! What do you think the max potential is with a single 2-bbl carb as required in Solo Vee?

Re: Max HP from a 1915cc Solo Vee motor?

Thanks Lynn! After replying to Jim last night I did some googling and came up with this: 1915cc High Performance Engine

That puts your 102 on a chassis dyno in about the right light, I suspect. Dual IDAs have to be worth a bit!

Re: Max HP from a 1915cc Solo Vee motor?

Thanks Jim. Induction and cam are per Solo GCR:
1915cc max
9:1 CR
DP heads permitted with polishing and porting
one two-bbl carb with any intake manifold (dual carbs not permitted)
maximum valve sizes 39mm intake and 32mm exhaust
any non-roller camshaft

Need anything else? Thanks! Stan

Re: Super Tour at Circuit of the Americas

Please pardon the newbie question, but I'm so new to FV that I haven't yet driven my car...

Anyway, it sounded in the video as though your gearbox kept popping out of fourth gear. Is that right?

Congrats on the double wins and thanks for posting up the video!
