Brundage Cup race is Sept 9, 2018 at RRR

As many of you know the Brundage Cup is a trophy established by the family that started FV on to what it is today and has been for 55 years now. Since the 20th anniv of the formation of the class there has been a race for currently legal FVs every five years. I guess I'm a newcomer since this will o...

Re: Formula Vee 55th Anniversary in 2018

Jeez, I'm an idiot! Spent time composing a note and didnt say... The FV 55th anniv Birthday Party Race weekend will be at Roebling Road Raceway outside Savannah, GA on the 3 day weekend of Sept 7-9, 2018. It is normally a nice time of year there in the South and the city of Savannah has huge history...

Re: Formula Vee 55th Anniversary in 2018

Anyone still subscribed to this thread? I hope so! VDCA has contracted with Roebling Road Raceway for the 3 day weekend of Sep 7-9, 2018 for the FV 55th birthday party race. We are just now starting with detail plans but we will have race groups for current FVs and Vintage FVs running separately. Th...

Re: Is this a Beach Forumla V ?

Agreed, it's a Beach 5C frame. We have one. Trailing arm attachment is exactly correct for that car and the serial number is within a couple of ours so they were likely built the same year if not the same month! The bodywork is totally incorrect so must be from a donor car of some variety. John Rank...

Wanted, stainless flat 4 collector

Old mild steel collector failed for the last time. Too rusty to fix finally.
Looking for a stainless flat 4.

I haven't talked to Gordon in a long time. But, I have 2 email addresses. One might still work.

Do you still have the gearboxes? If so, what are their conditions?
Short or long box?

btw - was the ASP the one previously owned by Gordon Drysdale?

Re: 1967 home movies FV at VIR

Well, anyone that thinks they can tell one of those FVs is Shadowfax or Ringwraith has much better cognitive powers than I! The video doesnt seem clear enough for any but a very few of the cars. If you try again you should focus on only the all white cars since that's the way Harvey's cars were pain...

Wanted: Zink rear bodywork

New Zink C4/Z5 project car is missing the two rear body panels. the half round one up near the roll bar that covers the fan shroud and the mostly flat rear one that covers the trans top.

Anyone have serviceable pieces they'd like to sell

Oil Coolers for Vintage - cleaned and tested

I have 2 stock oil coolers that fit into the non-doghouse shroud as used on most vintage FVs. They have been ultrasonically cleaned and then pressure tested by SR Racing.

Cheaper than even JC Whitney! $40 plus shipping of about $10 depending on your location.

Re: history lesson

Harvey Templeton built one and only car he named Shadowfax. It went thru a few hands before it landed with me. But, I've never seen a photo of it looking either gray or with significantly different bodywork than it has today. Certainly anyone else could have built a car and used the same name since ...

Re: Beach 5c frame

I made it from lexan. created a buck, made an oven from plywood that was big enough to hold the piece, heated it up and bent it around the buck. Lots of custom grinding and fitting later it was lightly bolted to the body.

Re: Beach 5c frame

Our car has braces from the roll hoop about half way up. We did have to change the roll hoop itself when my wife first started racing. She was too tall and the helmet was above the roll bar. We cut it off at the top frame tubes, had another bent and welded it on.

Re: How much engine is too much?

absolutely agree! But, we've had to send a couple of competitors packing over the 5 years we've been running vintage FVs in our group. One of them told us that another group had insisted that he "had to have a faster car" in order to be allowed to compete in their events. They were perfect...

Re: How much engine is too much?

I can only assume the last post was in jest altho it didnt say so. Many vintage race organizations take vintage FV quite seriously and any car with a clearly illegal motor will be sent home. For most of the nation, any motor built to current FV specs will be fine. The fan and generator levels the fi...

Re: Beach 5c frame

I own a Beach 5C. If I can help, would be glad to do so. Please, dont try to make it current SCCA legal. Not worth the changes. It aint winning any SCCA races regardless of what you do. It's a 40 year old design for heavens sake! Really nice car for vintage racing. May not win there either but its s...

1.0:1.0 4th gear set

Taint FV legal, that's why it was removed from a FV gearbox that was "cheap". Maybe someone wants it for a sports racer or dune buggy or?

any resonable offer plus shipping accepted.

Bill, Glad to hear you're out of the vintage race (big sarcastic smile) Now all we've gotta worry about kicking butt are all the rest of the midwest vintage FV guys and the ones we now have here in the SouthEast that are going faster and faster all the time. Sadly, Grant had to retire due to vision ...

Bonow is faaaassst

I witnessed Bill Bonow's drive at the 40th Bday party. It was as if magic was happening at every corner. He did, in fact, drive unbelievably quickly on Hoosiers. In spite of a decent qualifying time, I was only able to keep him in site for a few laps! If I knew how to do what he was doing I'd be run...
