Re: February Minutes

Hoosier is not the only "Legitimate" supplier of FV tires. AR makes a fantastic tire for FV.

Re: More tire info...

Yes Scott , slow down. And spend $15/18/21/24 per tire (whatever your at-track provider charges) to flip them on the wheels after every session. As long as people are "content" with the current tires, tire sponsorships, and "no price increase for the average racer" nothing will ...

Re: More tire info...

Mark,

Last time I purchased AR's I believe they were $95.00 ea for the fronts and $125.00 ea for the rears.

Re: More tire info...

I just purchased 2 sets of Hoosiers and paid $1500.00 That would have bought me 3 sets of American racers that would last me all season. If I am lucky I will get 2 major races out of my 2 sets of hoosiers. Am I the only one that thinks that this cost is out of proportion with the concept that this c...

Bill, maybe if you would upgrade the 1200 engine and the link pins your black helicopter it would not have to be in the shop so often.....

Re: Just don't get it!

Bruce, FV is going away on it's own for many reasons. It's had a wonderful life but it is near the end. Frankly SCCA, and sports car racing, may well be dying a slow death also. What I do know is for the last 5 years people keep saying that FV needs a spec tire, or a higher weight limit, or new part...

Re: Just don't get it!

Your right Greg it will not get any better until someone comes up with a plan that everyone can agree on. Right now with SR closing its doors LRE already closed parts becoming hard to find not sure where FV will end up. I know guys will say Samba.com for parts my problem I have the guys that I take...

Re: Spec Tires

Steve,

You are correct about the supply issue, however, the tire doesn't suck........ you national guys put on those sticky Hoosiers and get spoiled.

Point is that if American Racer can build a long lasting, consistent, tire then so can Hoosier and/or Goodyear, or ???????

50th Vee Birthday Race

I recently heard a rumor that the 50th has been moved to Road America in 2013. Does anyone know if this is true?

Re: Spec Tires

I am all in favor of a tire that will last 30 sessions. I just don't think it's possible to do so without ending up with a sticker advantage. Right now, with our current compound, there isn't much of an advantage to running them as stickers. A good scuff session leads to a tire consistant for most ...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

The AR's are more like 2 seconds a lap slower then the national tires, of course that will vary depending on the track. Yes, they leak air slowly, however, I have never had one loose significant pressure during a 30 minute race. They stay very consistent throughout there life. As I have said before ...

Re: Spec Tire Survey Results

Roger Krause Racing is at every SFR event and stocks the AR FV tires.

As a side note I just recently drove my old FV that had 4 year old AR's and was still turning competitive lap times...... Amazing tires.

Re: hard clutch?

I just had the exact same problem with a engine that had sat for about 3 years. The clutch pedal was about 5 times harder to depress then it should have been. Also, I realized that even when I pushed the clutch all the way down the clutch was not disengaging. I had to start the car in (1st) gear and...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?

Yes, this is what I seem to remember. I have a few questions... - I understand that such a different setup could take time to develop, but what characteristics were you seeing along the way? - It looks like it has a sway bar. Was it set up as a regular anti-roll or z-bar style? - I take it that the...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?

John, I did design a dual shock system for a Crusader FV that I owned a few years ago. Never really got a chance to fully develop it before I sold it, however, I still think that it has potential. The person that purchased that car asked if I could convert it back to a zero roll because he doesn't h...

Re: Zero roll "bump" limit?

AND what happens it the road irregularity is a dip? Does your suspension track into the dip on leave the ground?

Brian

Depends where (in the overall travel of the suspension) it is when it hits this irregularity....... Is it at full compression? is it at full droop? or somewhere in between?
