Re: Nationals
So we get 25 drivers to participate in a national-level event. So what? It sounds as if the SEB has already made up it's mind that the Solo Vees will never get their own class, nor will they be competetive in FM now with the F5's. Maybe the petition idea was sound, but instead of asking for a new cl...
Re: Nationals
I was unable to attend last year due to a new job, but I plan to be there this year. I am interested in seeing just how (un)competetive we are now. If this year is like last, I will be circulating a petetion for all of us to sign that wll ask for our own class, starting in 2010.

Re: Any Heavy Equipment Operators out there?
Ouch! They mest be able to see you coming from the next state! I just went to CDL school myself, and I only paid $2200! Some of the other guys in my orientation class paid as much as $6000, but what you have here is being raked over the coals! Better check around, because paying that much for 4-6 we...

Re: Freeing a seized engine
The best way I have found is to use the lower bolts that hold the bell housing to the transmission as a fulcrum, and prying the teeth on the flywheel. You will need to do this to get to all of the wrist pins anyway. At least this way, you can pull the engine intact, and maybe even get it running wit...

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
It's actually legal for road racing as well, since the pittman arm is free. However, you really don't want it. It may speed up your steering effort, but it corrects the ackerman angle for an off'centered mounting of the steering box. You do want to go ahead and cough up the $250 for the rack and pin...

Now would be a good time for all of us to get on the same page: To ask the SEB for a separate class for us vees. We would probably need to run as an exhibition sub-class for next year, but if we can field the numbers the SCCA would have to stand up and notice!

Re: Limited Slip Differential
The problem here is mis identifying the issue. Your problem is not with the diff, it is with the "lifting" of the inside tire. What you are actually doing is allowing too much droop in the rear suspension. Where the only problem you have now is wheel spin, with more aggressive driving you ...

I have one used for Autocross. Not sure if the panels are correct, and I have no rear cover for it. Where are you located? I am in Oklahoma City.

First, get on your knees. Second, clasp your hands Third, Pray like your life depended on it!!! Just kidding, of course. Each car is different. What mine and Vern's use are so totally different, it makes you wonder about how the motors were built. According to Tomlinson's, he says 34mm venturis, 1.6...

Checked and replied. Also, I forgot to add that I do not know yet if the new motor will pass sound restrictions yet. I will have to try it with the muffler on to see.

Re: Crankcase ventilation
I think what you are missing out on is that this is a SOLO vee, with a 1600 in it. The principal may be the same, but the 1600 has magnified the oil problem. Also, with the 8" and 10" wide tires on it, gee forces are a lot high than with the road-race vee 4.5" tires. I have used the v...

Re: Crankcase ventilation
The problem occurs when you lift off of the throttle when still in gear. These motors are tight enough to create a vacuum in the crankcase at that time. You will also notice that you will suck in your valve cover gaskets too! The best thing to stop this is to ventilate the valve covers. Bugpack has ...

Did you also notice that they clarified the rules on intake and exaust valve sizes--it seems now that instead of the 35.5/32 we can use the previous 39/32 sizes on the 1915 engine!
