Engine Removal...easy question!
Hi Everyone, Here is an easy question for everyone. How far apart does the trans need to seperate from the engine to clear the clutch/imput so that it can be removed? Just trying to plan how I am going to support everything (It is on one of those lifts), and how everything comes apart. Thanks, Jim

This the same Lyle from NJ?
If it is, I have run against (well, after him) before. I have often wondered if he could finish 2 laps while I do one.

Re: Chevy Trans cooler Install
Thanks. I must have read every page of the shop manual (the insane 500 page one) and didn't have any mention of the direction of flow. I was just about to take it off and start it up, but thought to ask hear first...good thing! The pyrometer is a good idea. I went with the largest plate syle cooler ...

Chevy Trans cooler Install
Hi Everyone,
I am about to install a trans cooler on my '95 Chevy Tahoe. I would like to put it on the "In" line to the radiator.
How can I tell which line is in and out?
Thanks
Jim

Wow, looks like I missed some fun.
I was on the Jefferson track running time trials with the PA Hill climb folks. They had there best Vee turn out, 7 cars. Looks like I will have to check out this other series.

Re: First Autocross
Possible that the tires are an issue.
What are you running for shocks. I saw a big differance with traction with new shocks, even with the cheap ones. They seem to wear out rather quickly.

Re: Canopy
Hi everyone, Thanks for the insight. Stoped by Sports authority yesterday. They had some sales on the canopies. The $60 and $100 advertised were set up. They looked like such junk I was afrade they might fail just standing up in the store. Took a look at the Summit one (with the vented roof) much be...

Canopy
I know this has been discussed, but can't find the thread. Looking to buy an e-z up style canopy. I see several in the 100-200 range that look like decent deals. But of all the online reviews I have seen, each one has a complaint on surviveability in rain/wind. While I plan to take it down in the ev...

I would just use the one without the paperwork for the street and autoX, save the other for club racing.

Re: Forever Leaking trans
Thanks for the pics, and info, there is currently no breather! Looks like I have a little work to do. To the top I ment to the top of that side fill plug, not the entire case (I'm not the crazy!). Still to high, I'll drain some out. So I drill and tap the that cover when its still attached to the tr...

Actually, I don't believe I have a breather. (unless its burried and hidden). Where is the best place to install/look for one?
Thanks

Re: Forever Leaking trans
Thanks for the advice. I will have to take a closer look. I have been overfilling it. I add fluid until it starts to leak out the top. Just how I have done most auto Trans in street cars. I'll try to drain out a little of that fluid. Using the Redline light weight stuff. I'll also try to reattack/se...

Forever Leaking trans
Hi everyone, For some reason my trans seems to always leak. At the CV (or would it be called a ball and socket?) boot the trans leaks. It has had new boots on it, tried using sealer, and no luck. That will last for a couple of races then start to leak again. Do the boots need to be drained to avoid ...

Thanks for the advice.
I guess if I come along one very cheap I'll pick it up for spares. Otherwise Iook out for a race motor.

Core engines...What to look for
Hi everyone, I would like to pick up a core motor and try to build it to spec. As a spare, I am sure I won't have it as nice as the professionals. Someting to set up so that I have at least one back up plan, just in case. There are some local swap meets comming up . What should a look for in a motor...

Re: Cheap enclosed trailer tire rack
I can take closer pics if necessary. Note that the frame structure isn't connected to the walls. It is bolted to the ground, and the frame around the door. The frame members across the top tie it all together. And is an excellent hand hold for shooting the shit. :) Second pic just shows the spacers ...

Solo Wheels
Hi Everyone, Looking for a used set of Solo Vee wheels. I am not overly concerned with the size, as long as they fit the 5 lug drum pattern, and are a bit wider then the VW wheels. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Steel wheels are fine. This is for my road race Vee that likes to run cheap AutoX events! Thanks J...

How Much oil?
While doing some pre-season work on the motor I got thinking...how much oil should I really be running? I have the sump exension, large aftermarket oil cooler, (with long lines to avoid pinching) and a large oil filter. I know there is no deffinite answer here. So if someone has a similiar set up co...

Re: Cheap enclosed trailer tire rack
Thats a neat idea for tall trailers.
For shorter trailers, I really like the one that came with my trailer (built by a vee guy) it mounts the tires flat aginst the wall. Not must to it, just some small square tube and a few bolts!
