Re: 1965 Autodynamics Mark II

Here is the shifter end on a 67-69 Zeitler. Pretty much all VW.

Tried uploading photo but it would not go. No real description in the error message. Will upload somewhere else and add a link. I have made the photo small enough but no luck.

Re: 1965 Autodynamics Mark II

Chuck. I have a 1967 Zeitler. John Zeitler, the builder, first bought a Autodynamics and then changed it in several ways until he came up with his own car. Several items are the same. I would be happy to send you some photos of my linkage. I am just finishing it up so I can give you some detailed sh...

Another shoe question

Wife is giving me driving shoes for Christmas and she asked what size to get. Do the racing shoe size pretty much equal street shoe size or do you need a little extra room with the Nomex socks? I wear a size 13 and it is pretty tight down there with the pedals. Do the shoes stretch like sneakers? Co...

Re: Newbee brakeline question

I think I found the problem... Bought the hard line from Advance parts. The label on it is a little misleading. It says 3/16 but it also says 4.7mm. You have to look at a second label to figure out which one you have in your hand. Guess which one I had?

Newbee brakeline question

You know I am getting close to finishing up because of all the questions.... I am building the brake system. I bought a new piece of 3/16 brake line and tested it on the T fitting on the front and also on the back of the frame and it threaded in and seated just fine. When I checked the T-fittings, o...

Yet Another Newbee question

Getting ready to buy a harness. Monoposto rule requires a 6-point. Looking for opinions on Latch vs Camlock and Pull-up vs pull-down adjustment. Also.. on a 6-point, where do the 2 front straps attach to the car and how do they route around your legs. thanks!

Re: More novice questions....

Got a nice trailer side marker light from Lowes. Hooked it up to my switch and it works just fine. Thanks! I got that 3 layer suit with all the sponsor patches on it. I will try to remove them and get the SCCA patches sewn on. Thanks again!

Re: Fire Suit question

Thanks for all the great advice. I bought a 3 layer suit that was used in one race and then they lost their sponsor so they gave him a new suit with the new sponsor all over it. The old one had to go and I got it at a great price. Now I get to remove the sponsors patches and replace them with the SC...

I may try. I take care of my wifes 92 year old Dad and my 2 year old grand daughter (when I'm not working on my VEE!!). Thwy both require about the same amount of my time and attention! Maybe I can come down on Saturday morning for a while. I managed to get to the last two weekends at Daytona, but t...

Magivering a shifter mechanism using a Craftsman 1/2 inch universal. As I am putting it together, I realize that the other 2 joints were made from SK Wayne Universals! Who Knew... My Question... Re: Fire Suit question

ok... 2 more questions on suits. I have found a supplier of used SFI/5 suits that were only used for 1 or 2 races and are near perfect. Any opinions on 1 piece versus 2-piece. Monoposto rules just say a Nomex Suit is required... nothing about SFI certification. Is FIA Certification ok? Thanks again.

hee-hee... know what you mean. I had to explain to my new Hyundai-driving son in-law what points, condenser, distributor cap, and rotor was. He had never heard of any of them. Luckily... I have a 56 chevy nomad to show him on. He was also a bit confused about the whole concept of a carburetor and do...

This is my way of saying THANKS to the Vets. I drive them around in my other project. It took me many years to restore it and has been in over 100 parades and countless funeral processions. Thanks to all our Veterans.

More novice questions....

Ok... My list IS getting smaller..... I can't find these items on any of our Vendors sites. Anyone know where to get them? Rear bumper. Looks like there are many different styles but they all bolt to the transaxle. Anyone have a spare? Rain Light. What do you use? Are they always RED. Use LED or sin...

Re: Forward or backwards?

Easy way to tell is to flip it over (or crawl under it if it is a car) and remove the oil drain plug. Using a flashlight, look to see if the ring gear (the big one) is on the starter-side of the transaxle. If it is on the other side, it is not flipped. I had the same question and another member pass...

Re: brake line questions

Once again, THANKS EVERYONE. I have decided to go with AN-3 lines off the wheel cylinders with AN to Metric adapters and then run 3/16 hard lines to the front and back and to the master cylinders. I will try to make all the braided lines about the same length (great idea for spares!). I appreciate a...
