Re: Racing Movie/Documentary on ESPN Friday

Thanks! If the show is as good as the web site, it should be a great watch.

Re: Formula Vee Driver's Club (please read and provide feedback)

Oh, while I'm wishing upon a star... How cool would it be for the club to schedule track test days strictly for open wheel cars? I'd pay an annual membership fee for that pleasure alone.

It Doesn't Hurt to Ask

I suggest calling the licensing office and explain your past experience & desire to attend the June Sprints. You might be able to attend driver school & get your national license, or at the very least finish your two regional races and get a waiver to attend the national event while you work...

Re: Formula Vee Driver's Club (please read and provide feedback)

The fact that SCCA now accepts NASA competition licenses is an indication that SCCA, as a business, recognizes the greater need to collaborate with other clubs in order to bolster its own revenue. If I’m running SCCA & analyzing participation trends, FV is starting to look like a closing chapter...

Re: Doubling up FV's in a 20' Trailer

Hey Dave, Good advice - I'm running a pair of transom axles rated at 3500lbs ea, so luckily I've got a few pounds to spare for the beer. Hey Anthony, I lost an intake valve seat on Cylinder #1 - fortunately just a small piece broke loose and didn't cause any further damage to the head, piston,...

Re: Formula Vee Association (please read and provide feedback)

I was lucky enough to have joined FV just in time for the 45th Birthday party, and I'd love to see the class survive long enough to enjoy the 50th.

Re: Doubling up FV's in a 20' Trailer

 The only credit I can take is that I know a good idea when I see it, and copied the wooden version of Jim Brookshire's stackable ramps.

Re: Doubling up FV's in a 20' Trailer

We walk the top car up the ramp with a person at each front wheel, keeping the tires within the side walls of the ramp. The ramps' inside braces are spaced alternately from one another so that one tire is almost always sunk down enough to keep the car from rolling back down should one or both person...

Thanks, Matt. Too bad policing the class can't be that straight forward.

Doubling up FV's in a 20' Trailer

Just in case you're looking to carpool to your next event... here's how my brother-in-law & I made it to Road Atlanta this past weekend with our two cars loaded in my 20' trailer with a couple of feet to spare. http://www.gentechinc.com/FVstack We borrowed the idea from Jim Brookshire, who has a...

Re: Why is the Sky Blue?

Thanks, everyone for your feedback on the restrictor plate question - if for nothing else, I've developed a better appreciation of the technical, cultural, and political issues. I was just saying that a total rule change needs to happen to be truly effective. Regions have used a spec tire before and...

Re: Budget racing

The only thing you didn't mention that I thought should be given some consideration is renting a ride for the first couple times prior to purchasing a car. My initial and longer term expenditures and thus my headaches/frustration factors were greatly reduced by following this advice of a veteran Ve...

Check your Jets

You may want to re-post your question in the tech tips category if you don't get a response. The professional builders/tuners are more apt to identify your setup compared to us FV-centric home garage guys monitoring the novice section. Not that it necessarily applies to you, but I had a similar prob...

Some ways I have found to cut costs

Your question has a lot of merit. The idea of economical racing seems to draw an immediate “racing is expensive” response. Bass fishing is expensive too if you drop $50K on a topshelf Champion Elite to compete in national fishing tournaments. But, there's still plenty of fish to be had if you putter...

No Offense Intended

Brian, please accept my apologies if I offended you. Honestly, I have no personal issue concerning manifolds, as I have years if not decades of gray-matter-tuning before I start worrying about that last 2HP out of my motor. Getting closer to the optimal driving line is and will continue to be my gre...

Why is the Sky Blue?

I’m posting this thread in response to a lengthy conversation taking place at http://www.formulavee.org/interchange/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2874 concerning the adoption of new manifold requirements. As most of you have no idea who I be – I’m a rookie FV racer that jumped into the fire a little of a ...
