first time reinstalling engine
I just got my engine back after having it rebuilt and in my shop manual it says to "Apply a light coating of moly-based grease to the splines of the transaxle imput shaft and the faace of the clutch release bearing." My question is. Is there a specific type of grease I need to use or will ...

Re: A few questions about heads
I had a similar problem last year with a Keensert that failed. It was stuck to the spark plug and in the process of changing plugs it striped the threads on the head. I had a engine shop that specializes in repairing aluminum heads for drag racing do the repair. He welded the hole closed and then re...

Re: clutch not holding pressure
After further inspection I may have found my problem. A real small crack in the hose leading from the reservoir to the master cylinder. It was small enough that it did not leak but may have been big enough to suck air into the system.

clutch not holding pressure
Over the winter I removed the clutch/brake assembly to replace some worn out parts. After reinstalling I had no problems bleeding the brakes. But when I trying to bleed the clutch the peddle starts out feeling firm but after pumping it a couple of time it goes soft. I've bleed the clutch around 5-6 ...

Re: oil pressure relief valve
I got the valve out with a cold chisel and hammer. It took a couple of hits to get it turning but came out pretty easy. I'm going to replace them with the allen head screw I saw on CB Performance's website.

oil pressure relief valve
I want to check the condition of the oil pressure relief valve and want to know what is the best way to remove the screw from the engine block? Is there a special tool or do I just need to get a really big screw driver?

Re: oil filter location
The oil filter in my car is mounted vertically to the left side of the firewall. It's kind of a tight fit but it is easy to get to to change.

Re: Head and neck systems ... request for input
I feel the decision should be up to the driver to either use one or not. But as I put in my letter to the CRB, my opinion is that if they mandate a device all FIA and SFI devices should be available to use, and let the individual driver select the device that best works for their car. After looking ...

Re: Fuel tanks?
Hi Greg,
I'm the current owner of the original Shirley MacLane FV, do you have any pictures of the original steel fuel cell? And what price would you'd like for it?
Thanks

Re: Head and Neck Restraints
I really don't have a problem with SCCA mandating the use of a H&N device, as long as they decide what specs they're going to use (FIA, SFI or both) and then allow each individual to decide which device will work best for there situation. And not mandate that I have to use one device that may no...

Re: And the 2009 PAX for F Modified is . . .
I read on Apexspeed that Jay Novak is building a 600cc F500 car. From what I've read, Jay's proposal is that if you race a F500 you would have the choice to choose either the traditional 2 stroke engine with clutches or a 600cc motorcycle engine and transmission both combinations would race in the s...

Re: gauges working properly
Well I finally had a chance to check the temperature sender--I tried the lighter method. With heat on the sender for a couple of minutes and the gauge not moving off the peg, I'm assuming the sender is bad. My next question is does SR Racing carry a replacement that will work on my car? The sender h...

Re: gauges working properly
Thanks for the information. I'm still trying to find the time to check everything out, but I did go out and tried turning the ignition on and the needle did jump and go back to zero. When I disconnected the wire from the sender and grounded it to the frame the needle jumped all the way to the left. ...

gauges working properly
What is the best way to check that the oil temp and oil pressure gauges are working correctly? I have VDO gauges and the oil temp does not move off the peg even after the engine has been run. My oil pressure gauge shows around 50 lbs at idle. I read the section on oil pressure in the Getting Started...

Re: Trailer Question?
I use a 6x12 H&H trailer. I had to make some short ramps to clear the edge of the ramp door. The car has about 4" on each side and enough room up front with the nose off for the easy-up and a small spare parts box. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to store an extra set of tires.

Re: Shirley Maclanes new home
I knew as soon as I put the number on the side of the car it would not work. I'm going to try keeping the white and add a thick black outline should look like this picture. Making the change will be easy, it helps having a brother with a sign making business.
