Re: intake manifold/ carb question
Next race is in 2 weeks, not enough time to "improve" for that. I will send manifold and carb for flow testing to you after Turkey Trot. Any suggestions on improving flow that I might be able to do myself? Thanks
John

intake manifold/ carb question
Thanks to a friend I have a really good engine, but I feel it is asthmatic due to intake manifold and carburetor. Any "inexpensive" way of "improving" the flow on my manifolds. Thanks,
John

Re: WTB Used lightweight trailer
I, too, do not know where you are, but I have a trailer that used to haul my Zink z12 until the SRF ran into it. I'm located in Tampa, FL.

Need better times
WTB or trade I think I need the following: A long box for Daytona A 1.26 3rd gear short box A better flowing manifold A better flowing carb I have approximately 4 1/2 trannys, all seem to have 1.22 3rd gears. That 3rd gear seems to take too long to get to max rev in 3rd. If someone within 300 miles ...

Re: Long box/short box AGAIN
Thanks for the 10 turn suggestion. 3rd gear 10 turns of wheel got 26.75 crank turns, according to the spreadsheet I have a 1.22 3rd 4th gear 10 turns of wheel got 19.5 crank turns, according to spreadshhet I have a 0.89 4th I realize I need a LONG box for Daytona. At Sebring I can make it to 6500 in...

Re: I'm back
Jim, Timing was dead on, has been since engine refresh. Carb may have been a part of the problem, but 8 volts and virtually 0 amps out of old used battery probably turned pertronix into a rev limiter. Was able to reach 6500 in 3rd with no problem. Takes a little long (see my "other" post)....

Re: Long box/short box AGAIN
Sorry about the length of time responding. Finally got someone to hold the "other" tire while I turned one. Grandchildren help at times! I didn't get to actually measure the number of degrees, but, here is the "data" we colleted. Maybe someone can offer advice. 3rd gear- 1 tire t...

Re: I'm back
Sorry about taking so long to thank ya'll for the advice. Put in new "used but cheap" battery and engine with rebuilt carb and pertronix worked like a charm! Thanks for the assistance.

Long box/short box AGAIN
Need a long box/short box, whichever one I don't have now. I have 3 or 4 spare FV trans, do not know which they are in various states of disrepair. The trans I have in the car now works like a dream, good shifts, no rattles, etc, but 3rd gear seems too tall. I think I need to be in 4th sooner, after...

Sebring Turkey Trot regionals, CFR finally got the grouping right (now, we need more Vees and FSTs to come play) put on DRE carburetor and pertronics ignition distributor NO OTHER changes to a really fine running engine. Could only get max 5000 rpm out of engine under load. Ran the whole weekend, th...

rear end steps out
Any suggestions? Our 1979 Vista Bushwacker with zero roll and leading arms (at least they are in front of axle) seems to be having the rear end step out when I get going fast enough to slip and slide. The front end seems to go exactly where I tell it to go and does not seem to be experiencing any un...

Re: front tires
One of my "tintop" racer friends suggested I use really tall tires so that if I flipped over I could just keep going like a hot wheel.

Re: front tires
Wasn't trying to "fix" anything. Was just wondering if putting 5.5 inches of tire at all four corners would help or hurt?

front tires
I know this has been dicussed before, I just can't find it. I will listen to suggestions, both pro and con, on whether I am out of my mind proposing to use rear tires on all four corners rather than skinny tires on the front and wider on the rear.

There is still enough time to register for Sebring short course Oct 22/23. There are 6 of us (FV) now. Come on down and get out of the cold.
