Re: For what it is worth...
Hi Johnny. I'm not surprised by the SuperTrapp. They are very restrictive. The Coast Fabrication muffler that makes my car look like it has a stinger added 10 hp and 10 ft-lbs over the open header. The SuperTrapp took away more than 10 each from the open header.

Re: Rules Clarification
The rules for SoloVee in Appendix A of the Solo rulebook specifically refer to GCR rule C.1.1.C.6 which requires a minimum rod weight of 425 grams. The GCR allows rods to be lightened. I would interpret that to mean polishing is allowed to get to 425 grams.

Re: How many Vees???
Johnny, Bill Noble was Lisa's husband. I only know the guys in Midiv. Vernon Maxey, Bob Qualkenbush, and me. I've heard that Collin Moore is driving his dad's Bobsey again. The only thing I know about him is that he is in Oklahoma. There is a very slow car that runs occasionally in southwest MO with...

Re: How many Vees???
Johnny, here is the word from a member of the MAC. "There will be no new mod classes. Period. The end. Not if 40 Vees should up at all the National and Pro Tours and Nats. Not if 40 Legends and Dwarfs did the same. Not if anything had those numbers. There. Will. Be. No. New. Classes. " Tha...

The car ain't getting any lighter and even if I lose 60lbs, we'll still weigh 1044.

If you mean did Darren Seltzer drive the former Colgrove car, the answer is no. It is a very different car. Darren's co-driver is owner of this car. The Colgroves' car was there. It is now black. Re: Nationals
Johnny, the rule book has to be published by Jan 1. It is way too late for rules changes for 2014.
Re: Nationals
It is too late for rule changes for 2014. The BoD will vote on all Solo rules changes next month. You can try for 2015.
Re: Muffler
I have the clamp on Supertrapp.
Re: Muffler
I have a SuperTrapp and a Burns. I found that the Supertrapp killed the hp when used at a National a few years ago. I had to go down to only four disks to meet the sound limit. That venue has stricter limits than the National regs. The shorter Burns will gets me down to 95 to 98 dBa at most courses ...

My late, lamented 1915 pulled 102hp and 102ft-lbs on the SR Racing chassis dyno.

Re: Formula Vee SOLO questions
Can I ask what size rims/tires you are running? The wheels are 13" diameter, 8" width. I get hand me down tires from my buddy that runs FF in CM in exchange for post event food and beer. I'll have to get the car (and the driver) sorted a bit better before I plunk down $900 on a set of tir...

It is an irrelevant thing since we didn't get any of the additional allowances that were part of the original proposal.

Real Racing Wheels makes three piece aluminum wheels. For more money, there is Bogart. For a lot more money, there are Keizer and Kodiak.
Diamond Racing Wheels makes spun steel wheels.

It's time for a new engine.
I won FM at the St. Louis Road Tour, but parts of the engine were returned to me in a plastic bag. Fine pieces of magnesium and steel are scattered all over Madison County, IL. You can put your fist through the hole in the case. I had just shifted into 4th when it went bang. It was a fast course. I ...

Re: A few questions
The disk brakes are definitely worth it. Look at dune buggy brake kits. I dropped over 40 pounds and no more adjusting. Brake feel is better and braking is more consistent. VW disk brakes add weight. If that is what you can afford, then stick with the drums. The 1915 is somewhat more powerful than t...

Alright, Art here is positive. We won't be moving to CM.
They are overwhelmingly against the move. Besides, the FM people seem to be much friendlier. At least they are as long as our valve covers don't fall off.

The weather was not a factor. CM ran second heat Tuesday east and Wednesday west. FM ran fifth heat Thursday west Friday east. Tuesday and Wednesday were hotter than Thursday and Friday, but the time differences between the first and fifth heats kind of equalize the weather. No rain to speak of all ...

If it wasn't for bad luck. . .
I left the shop about 10:15 which is plenty of time to get to Grissom for the Peru NT. I went about sixty miles or so, when the passenger in a passing car make a strange little gesture toward the trailer. Some of the large panels were oil canning, but that happens sometimes depending on the road sur...

Re: SEB class and rule change
Wish they would have made them effective right now since my engine is being rebuilt. Maybe I should just have the big valves put in now. The way I drive no one will know. I don't think changing classes will make a big difference, but it doesn't make sense to me to have us with the snowmobile b...
