Re: runoffs live coverage from speedcast
ah. makes sense i guess. i needed to upgrade from media 10 to media 11 to make it work. so if mac is still on media 9, then i guess you wouldn't have it... Microsoft stopped supporting Mac's in 2003. When they did, the version numbers didn't always match the Windows version. Microsoft did make a WM...

Re: runoffs live coverage from speedcast
Doesn't work on a Mac.
Re: Nationals
We actually raised the front of the car since it was slamming the pavement under braking. Unloading the front tires while the chassis is sliding on the ground is not a good thing. It is also stiffer now. The car weighed 885 pounds the last time it ran. We think it will be 830 to 835 when it runs nex...
Re: Nationals
I don't think we can get my car narrower, but with Vern's help it is sure going to be lighter. I am going to try something Jim Murphy has suggested to me several times. Narrower tires.
And the 500's still have a power to weight advantage.

Send it to the SEB. The SEB will then refer it to the MAC for consideration.

I enjoyed your web site. Thanks for making it.
Re: Nationals
Vern, it will be after Nationals. Every day off I have from now until after Nats, I will be at an SCCA event.
Well, maybe depending on your schedule, I could drop it off on the way to Nationals.

Re: Nationals
Vern, my post wasn't clear. I meant that if you had room at home, I would bring the car to you there.
Re: Nationals
Vern, I'll be in Lincoln for the Midiv. And, I can alway bring the car to you, if you have room for it.
I'm going to try to get some local people who want to drive a Vee to help get your old Zink ready for next year, Johnny.

Re: Nationals
Vern, I've been having problems finding anyone locally to fab the brackets for the rear calipers. Would you be interested in giving it a try? There is a new participant here in STL looking for a Solo Vee. We had him try on your old Lynx, but he is too tall and too wide in the shoulders. He has regis...

I'll speak with Jan about it, but I think she was mistaken.
Why would anyone want extra weight attached to their helmet? If you do hit something, the extra weight is not going to be a good thing.

Re: 1970 Lynx vee
Helmet cameras are not legal. Not for Solo. Not for Time Trials. Not for Club Racing. Not for RallyCross. They might be legal while riding your paddock bike.
Re: Nationals
Art, I did not suggest that the 440/500's be moved to CM, nor did I suggest that the Solo Vees be left as FM. I did point out that the 440/500's and the CM Forumla Fords seem to have achieved parity. As you know, a great many people feel there are too many classes in Solo ane the Prod and Mod classe...
Re: Nationals
A couple of clarifications.
Formula First is restricted to the production disk brakes from the later model Beetles. They are heavier than the drum brakes. Solo Vees can use any disk brakes so long as the rotor is iron or steel.
Lincoln is not really bumpy. It's closer to HPT than Forbes.

Re: Nationals
The reason they run with us is because we are the bastard step children of Solo. We have been with the Fords in the past. Also with the Super 7's. We don't really fit anywhere and they don't want another mod class. I just checked the results for the Nats back to 2005. When they have the same weather...

Re: vreihen??
I'm half fast. At least, that is what I think they said.77fmod wrote:
Any fast drivers out there that might want to run my car????
And after today's event, I would agree. Oh, well. The owner of the Subaru I'm driving took the PAX. I was a miserable 14th.
Re: Nationals
Art, my car has not competed yet. Later this month I'll be back on day shift and I'll try very hard to get the car to a fab shop or machine shop who can make the rear caliper mounts. When I speak of national drivers, I mean those who can trophy in any reasonably prepared car in any class at national...
Re: Nationals
Art, the only truly national level driver that I know of who owns a vee is Scott Nardin. And he has chosen to drive a 500 at Nationals the past two years. I would like to have my car at the Nationals this year, but I don't think it will happen. We are still trying to figure out how to mount the rear...
Re: Nationals
The SEB is going to be waiting a long, long time to see results from a national level driver in a fully prepared Solo Vee. National level drivers will not drive a Solo Vee at national events unless they absolutely cannot find another ride.

Sorry to hear that, Charles. I have arthritis in my neck and upper back, but it is minor at this time.

Re: Front Suspension Setups
Why do you want a ball joint beam? It is heavier and wider. And if you go to disk brakes, it gets even wider. One option we can go to for Solo Vees, is coilovers. Depending, of course, on the backspacing of the wheels. With coilovers, the ride height is easily adjustable, and springs car be changed ...

Re: starter - what's everyone use
Yes, we did. The problem is not just the header, but also a removable bar which supports the zero roll tower. If either were a little different, the starter would fit. But with two other cars in the shop, the starter will get used.

Re: starter - what's everyone use
You might try the high torque starter that Race Car Supply sells. I bought one for the "Beach", but it doesn't clear the headers. I will use it on one of the other cars. I don't have any problems with the stock starter for the dual port engine.
