Re: You asked for it.

Great rant! I've told Kevin several times he needs to spend some money. I bought two very good engines in the last 18 monthes for myself and two very good engines for my customers. Hojo bought a decent engine recently. It is a buyer's market out there and deals to be had. When I put one of my engin...

Re: You asked for it.

Sounds good!! I really like this concept. I race FV (F1200 in canada). It is now my second year in this class. I have realized that it's the people who have been doing this for along time that have all the good parts and engines. And since you can't buy new 1200 parts you have what you have. Or you ...

Re: Front Offset Spindle Bushings

When you guys are talking about clearancing the carrier what are you doing to it? Are you machining the inner radius of where the spindle goes over the turkey leg? Are you putting an angle on the link pin bushing and where the link pin bushing goes into the carrier? We have radiused the turkey leg t...

Re: Front Offset Spindle Bushings

Yes link pin bushings!

Does anyone run offset king pin bushings? The rules are vague. I also know there is not much meat to play with on those.

Re: Front Offset Spindle Bushings

We got our german machinist friend to make some for us they are a total of 3.5deg offset. They are probally the nicest bushings i have seen on a vee! If anyone would like a set our friend will make them. You can have whatever offset you want. He wants $100. They are perfect machined and reamed!!! If...

Front Offset Spindle Bushings

Why is the standard FV Spindle bushing offset 1.5 - 2 deg? And than we shim it to get our desired camber.

Why don't we run 3,4 or even 5 deg bushings to get the desired camber and than no special shimming required?

Post your thoughts!

Thanks

Kevin

Re: Front suspension

The machine that we were on was a 4 wheel alignment and checks for square.

We started the weekend with 1/16'' toe in total
than we went to 1/8'' to in total in the rear.
This seemed to help with keeping back end in line around the turn.

Re: Front suspension

Ed,

Yes it is square we have had it on a compterized laser alignment machine.

What would be the max toe in we should have? We have about 1/8'' in now.

What would a good starting for castor for the front? We have about 7.5 deg neg right now.

Thanks

Re: Front suspension

As some of you may know we have a chassis dyno. Since every dyno is calibrated differently, every dyno shows different horsepower. (mustang dyno vs land & sea have been proven to be 5-10% different). We don't know what a good car is supposed to pump out. And yes Guy you are right it takes foreve...

Re: Front suspension

Thanks Guy, I wish SR racing would be closer so that we could use the dyno. Guy when is the next time you are coming to a race? The reason I ask is because my dad and I would like you to take our car out for a practice session.

Thanks DAVE, but we already have a lightweight starter. :(

Re: Front suspension

Bill Vallis had loaned us an engine for half of last year it didn't make any difference. I have had 3 different engines in my car so far and all seem to be the same. As far as driving I think I am good in that department, I know everyone says that but I have been in the top 3 and winning championshi...

Anyways here is my story!! I have been racing karts for 20 years and have had lot's of success Multiple National and Regional championships. weight issue

As of right now I am 58lbs over the minimum weight. How much do you think that could effect lap times? I know it will effect, but by how much?? By the way I run at Mosport which is typically a 1:45-1:50 lap time! I weigh 193lbs. My car is a tank!! I have a Blackhole which is an evolution of the Lynx...

I had both the old falken and the new falkens side by side and they are exactly the same. If you look at the sidewall of both tires they have the same sidewall construction, temperature ratings, and treadware rating. We also did a series a durometer tests hot and cold on both tires, cold anywhere be...

Re: F1200/Vee makes national paper

That's fantastic that we get that kind of publicity!!!!!! Although I am getting a little restless and irritated when a select few always say that all the cars are equal and it is down to the driver!!! This is my second year in Formula 1200, I have been been racing for 19 years total in some form of ...
